re: Marvel's Cloak and Dagger (Freeform) -- Series Thread -- premieres 6/7/18

Actually gonna watch this pretty much live tonight. My sister was briefly into comics many years back and thanks to her picking up the Cloak & Dagger comics I came to appreciate this pair of heroes. Cloak & Dagger is not a comic series that I sought out on my own even though I am the one who stuck with comics all these years in my family.

I am really heartened to read that the chemistry (as noted in the AVclub review) between the leads makes you want to constantly see them paired up and causes the show to drag a bit when they are doing their own thing.

I hope viewers realize they didn't have a romantic relationship in the comics for decades. They had more of a brother-sister relationship until very recently.

Yeah, but that isn't happening here. I mean it's airing on Freeform, of all places.

As a casual comic book fan that doesn't know much about these characters other then seeing an occasional appearance, why would I need to care about their romantic relationship, or lack of? Genuinely curious.

Spoiler:
If I remember correctly, since I read the comics waaaaay back in the eighties, I think her light power helps keep him from descending totally into the darkness of his. Or something along those lines.

I thought the first episode was pretty good. I feel asleep before watching the second.

Same here, I was just about done with the first episode which was actually good and my going to sleep 15-20 minutes later than usual the past several days caught up with me. I was watching on a slight delay so it was a bit after 10:30 when my body forced me put down the iPad, turn off the tv and go to sleep.

I am going to finish this up tonight then jump into that YouTube Red show Impulse (pun intended) which I did not know about before reading about it on this site but I am now curious.

I only got to see the first episode also, and really enjoyed it. A real nice set up to both characters. The editing threw me off a little bit at some points, but a minor complaint.

It’s on the Freeform website, so I’d assume it’s on their app too.

Will this be on Hulu? No cable nor access to website or app through my tv.

Never mind, it is.

Episode 2 was good and left me wanting to see what comes next. This seems very much written like a binge show.

I’ve never heard of Olivia Holt before as I don’t watch anything on Disney. But she sure is pretty.

We're in. Interesting so far. Intriguing that the lady cop's scenes had almost no dialogue. I wonder why.

And yet there was sex and swearing in the first episode.

i enjoyed it, could move along a tad faster

I knew they wouldn't Cloak's powers as dark as the comics.

I've liked Olivia holt since Kickin It, so seeing her get banged, even fully clothed was nice

Her and Natalie Alyn Lind from the Gifted are the two cuties on tv

re: Marvel's Cloak and Dagger (Freeform) -- Series Thread -- premieres 6/7/18

Recorded the second episode cause I missed the first one but they reaired the first after the second.

I wasn’t a fan of the young Cloak ripping a car stereo out like he was pulling a weed out of the ground.

The explosion or red light thing that gave them their powers, apparently, was very poorly shot during the npunderwater scene so we had to rewind and watch it a couple times and still didn’t see what was happening.

I like that these two kids aren’t perfect like you might expect to see in a show like this.
They have drugs, some cursing and a little bit of sex.
Similar to the early appearances they were basically vigilante and I think they murdered the person who killed Billy in th comic.

Like d the way ep,2 opened with the aftermath of the the events during the episode.

There’s a lot to like about this show.
I’m wondering how they get from what they are to being what I guess would be superheroes in this universe.

Also I never watched anything on Freeform before, do they bombard every show on there with all the pop ups and advertising?
At one point all four corners of the screen had some kind of bullshirt covering the screen.
And every 30 seconds a txt message pop up telling us we are watching Cloak and Dagger.

A little surprised they kept Tandy's drug abuse in the show.

That 1st episode was surprisingly good. Like really good. I'm impressed. In for the whole season.

The ratings were really good for Freeform so another season is very likely.

Damn, if that's the case I'll just keep watching it on demand and skip DVRing it as there were zero on-screen pop-ups on there.

I caught the 1st episode the other day and thought it was pretty entertaining.

Don't know anything about the Cloak and Dagger comic, but I found the backstory of the 2 main characters interesting.

That's because Freeform's target audience is not Middle Aged Men.

It's probably girls from teens to early 20's into Facebook Twitter and Instagram. Hence, that's why most of their shows get ignored here.

re: Marvel's Cloak and Dagger (Freeform) -- Series Thread -- premieres 6/7/18

2nd episode was interesting. Showed how conflicted Dagger/Tandy was with her life and her troubled home. I felt bad for Tyrone after he got the shit kicked out of him by his dickhead teammates.

My DVR actually cut off the recording when Tandy and Liam were changing in the dry cleaner. Luckily I have Hulu and was able to finish. There was almost 5 minutes left!! DirecTV got bad program length info from Freeform.
