Once The Flash/Supergirl brought in the infinite multiverse theory, anything and everything became included. Even this universe. The Flash could come speeding through my living room at any moment (hopefully with an ice cream cone, cookies and cream, please).

To me Krypton drags down both Superman ('78) and Man of Steel. I know nothing about the Kents comic, but I'm with you. Just that cover alone seems more interesting than an hour+ of Krypton we've already had on film.

Caprica had potential- the last episode showed where the series would have gone had it not be cancelled. I suspect Krypton won't be nearly as creative.
And yes, The Kents is an interesting look at the backstory of Clark's family. It's really unfortunate that westerns aren't popular anymore. A western about The Kents could have been fantastic- a great contrast to Gotham.

Re: Krypton - (SyFy)
The success of this show will greatly depend on the creativity of its producing staff. Even the most successful comic book shows have been formulaic retreads of existing TV recipes for success.
If Daxamites and certain other Kryptonian ideas don't show up in the first season, I'll know the staff is mostly winging it from having seen Smallville and Superman films.

Cameron Cuffe is a very unknown actor. Hardly has anything to his resume.

Just like Christopher Reeve and Tom Welling were unknown young newcomers when they were cast to play Superman on the big and small screens, Syfy’s Superman prequel Krypton has cast an unknown young actor, Cameron Cuffe, for the lead, Superman’s grandfather. Warner Horizon, whose broadcast parent Warner Bros. TV cast Welling in Smallville, is the studio.
Based on the DC Comics characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, Krypton, which has a pilot order, is set two generations before the destruction of the legendary Man of Steel’s home planet. It follows Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.
Destined to be the ancestor of Jor-El (future father of Superman) and Kal-El (the future Superman), Seg-El is the scion of the once prosperous El family and is blessed with an intuitive brilliance for all things technical; he is now living in Krypton’s lowest caste after his family was stripped of its rank.
Cuffe joins young British actress Georgina Campbell who was cast in the pilot as the female lead of Lyta Zod.
The London-born Cuffe is a graduate of The Lir Academy in Dublin, Ireland. He has done several stage productions and appeared in the Stephen Frears–directed feature Florence Foster Jenkins. He also recurs on the upcoming ITV drama The Halcyon. Cuffe is repped by Gersh, Untitled Entertainment and The Artists Partnership.
David S. Goyer and showrunner Damian Kindler executive produce Krypton for Warner Horizon and Goyer’s Phantom Four. Colm McCarthy serves as co-executive producer and will direct the pilot from a story and teleplay by Goyer & Ian Goldberg. The pilot will be filmed in Serbia.

Looks quite impressive from that early footage. Hopefully this means that SyFy is continuing to invest in more quality science fiction like The Magicians, Dark Matter, The Expanse and now this and less Sharknados (yes, I know one more movie is coming)

Looks pretty cool
I hope there's some tight integration with the DCU's cosmic/alien scene. Thanagar, the Green Lantern Corps, Tamaran, Zeta Beams, Durla... #fulltaffer

Woow. That look pretty interesting. I LOOOOVE that it's based off of the Man of Steel/DCEU.

Even if it isn't a direct prequel, clearly the style and design are from Man of Steel. That stuck out to me immediately as a fan of and style and design.
