This has been a pretty boring season.

Pretty happy with the final group, though LD is right and I think this season has been a bit boring (especially the past few weeks).

For some reason my recording of it came through extremely pixelated last night, so it was a bit of a chore to watch, not sure if that was just a TIVO thing or what.

Was it new last night? My DVR didn't pick up anything. I recorded that new show after but haven't watched it yet.

I hate on competition shows like this when they set a goal for a challenge (innovate!) and then reward someone for ignoring that goal because they did something ordinary but did it really well.

On the other hand, "be innovative" is a stupidly vague goal for a cooking competition.

Yeah I thought decision was really weak. He should have been eliminated for essentially thumbing his nose completely at the challenge, not that any of them were innovative at all. Blaise would have loved this challenge and made hamburger ice cream with deep fried mayonnaise bacon jam and pickled tomato compote or something like that.

Yep, new last night. I thought they might shake things up by
Spoiler:
tossing Gregory
, but it didn't happen. Pretty humdrum season, as no one is really that distinctive in either personality or cooking style.

With liquid nitrogen, of course. Or if he was being innovative, maybe nitroglycerin.

Slightly surprised that Dougie made it to the final, but whatever. I was kind of hoping Mei would get knocked out since she strikes me as kind of pompous, but also whatever. Gregory is my favorite but I don't have strong feelings about anyone.

Yeah, Mei is as close to a villain that we have left, but it's not too crazy. No surprise to see Aaron not get picked to help out.

I'm not a fan of Mei. Rooting for Gregory...but would be okay if Doug won.

Good comeback by Gregory. I hope he wins.

Shitty ending to a dull season.

I liked it because someone FINALLY went a got a really good dessert for the finale. It is SOOO obvious you need to have a fantastic dessert to win, and yet she is the first one to have one. I doubt she had anything to do with creating it but it was smart.

One of the worst seasons ever though, true. I do not think there was 1 "wish I could taste it" dish this year, maybe Mei's dessert. Gourmet food is becoming too formulaic and forgetting flavor. All the recipes are similar, savory. acid, salt, texture and presentation.

I liked the season, and didn't mind mei winning, hated last years finale and winner, so didn't mind either one winning.

Tried best new restaurant, with tom c, but bailed, just wasn't into it.

Well, I say "meh" to the winner ("Meh-i"? ). I don't think she was undeserving because she was strong throughout the season, but Gregory was better, and she could've easily been eliminated the last couple rounds. She seemed to be getting through on lifetime achievement rather than that specific round. But whatever.

I couldn't even remember who won last year, and even after googling him he seemed only vaguely familiar. I don't know if I've really rooted for anyone since Richard Blais in All-Stars.

Just saw this ad on TV, but it hit youtube a year ago! I guess they said, "Hey, do we still have that old ad? Now we can use it again!"

Gregory didn't win? Well, I'm just going to delete all the remaining episodes on the PVR. I didn't mind Mei (kinda cute, to me at least) that much, and she was clearly talented, but she was foul-mouthed, and kept name-dropping that Voltecchi tool from a few seasons ago.

Re: Top Chef: Boston (Bravo) -- Season 12 Thread -- Premiered 10/15/14

My problem with the last few episodes has been the heavy-handed editing that had Mei emphasizing how few female winners the series has had; they hit that nail on the head so hard (and, mind you, the editors know how it all ends) that I pretty much knew that's where we were headed.
