Re: 12 Monkeys (SyFy) -- Season 1 Thread -- Premieres 1/16/15
I really enjoyed the movie, and The Hamster Factor is the best "making of" ever -- bar none. I kept pointing out the TV show characters to my wife ("Bruce Willis played Cole in the movie", etc.) until we both suddenly came to the realization she's never seen the movie. She still liked the show, though.

I enjoyed it. It is different enough from the movie that I will continue to watch it.
It got a 0.4 in the demos and around 1.35 million viewers for Friday. Not a great start but hopefully the million reruns of it will add up and the show picks up more viewers.

I watched it and really enjoyed it. The lead can be a bit grating, I didn't like him in either X-Men movies. Although for me the fun part was having my lights go crazy. I have the Philips Hue lights and it actually was really cool. The lights were constantly changing and not just crazy flashing lights, but they would dim when they were in the car, to purple when the location changed to the lab. Lots of fun

Just watched the first episode last night and really enjoyed it. It sucks they debuted this show on a Friday night. I imagine the ratings will never be good enough for this to get a second season but I'll continue to watch.

The way SyFy operates financially, I would almost certainly guarantee we'll get a second season. The terrible Helix got a second season and even a Blu-ray set.

Dang it, I'm getting the "There was a problem downloading this program" for episode 3 on DirecTV on demand. I'm really liking this show.

Thought that episode 2 was pretty good as well.
Love that they brought Tom Noonan in this. Always find him super creepy.
Not sure where they're heading with Goines daughter, but I'm ready for more.
As I said last week, I think it's good that Cole can jump back and forth in time and regroup.
BTW, love the glasses on Amanda Schull.

I've watched the first 3 eps. (saw next week's on demand) and found it fairly decent, which is a huge improvement over so much of what the channel aired in 2014.
I do hope that if they keep figuring puzzle pieces out so quickly then they either the writers can keep coming up with more, or have plans to reinvent the show's premise when the time comes.

3 episodes in and I'm liking it enough to stick with it.
Episode 4 wasn't OnDemand this morning so I guess they stopped that experiment. I thought it might have been a gimmick to stop people from fast forwarding thru the commercials when watching it on DVR.

To this point the future stuff has been boring but it looks like that may be changing.

It's an enjoyable show because it moves, but I rarely stick with anything on SyFy because they are light on character development compared to shows on Premium Channels and AMC. In a sense, I'm not really the market for SyFy shows. I will probably stick with the show, but you can only go so far with a plot-heavy shows as you need to develop the characters to keep it interesting.

The first three have been better than expected. I think eventually the plot will move far away from what we know of 12 Monkeys the movie. They will need to keep a tight rein on the time travel, that can get incredibly messy over a couple of seasons.

Anybody still watching? Looks like future finally changed upon his return, and not how he expected?

It's still one of the few shows I watch the night it airs and I'm still digging the premise. Hopefully it won't get the ax too soon.

I'm currently on episode 4 "Atari" and this one spends a lot of time in the future. Specifically 2035 before Cole goes into that time machine. This episode is more of a post apocalyptic thing.
Severe lack of Amanda Schull.
Then things jump back to 2043 again. The end was kind of cool when Cole was zapped back to moments before the marauder attack and seeing him leave.

Now I'm caught up. Watched episode 5, "The Night Room" tonight
The finger nail torture scene on Cole by Tom Noonan's character made me squirm a little.
Goines daughter made me laugh too. I when she recited the Bill Clinton line.
Funny how this episode was another Red Herring of the origins of the virus just like the Haiti episode a few weeks ago.
