I've discovered (i.e. pulled out of my ass) this guy's runners up list:

11. Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? - It's got the word Smart in the title. See?
12. Mythbusters - The scientific method at it's finest.
13. Larry King Live - An in depth analysis of some of today's finest newsmakers.
14. MacGyver - This dude could make shit from nothing!
15. Penn & Teller's Bullshit / Probe (1988 w/ Parker Stevenson) (tie) - Forget that paranormal crap, everything has a logical explanation.
16. Are You Being Served? - It's been on PBS forever, it's got to be smart.
17. Green Acres - Arnold the pig is a metaphor for all of us.
18. L.A. Law - It's about a bunch of lawyers in L.A.
19. Mr. Wizard - They're doing science experiments!!!! On TV!!!!!!!!
20. Three's Company - Jack's not really gay, but he kept the landlords thinking he was so he could live with two girls.

I always found ironic the title of MENSA for smart people, since in Spanish, "mensa" or "menso" means stupid or idiot.

I just can't believe that Two and a Half Men isn't on this list.

And, in all seriousness, the Simpsons should be on there as well.

A friend of mine joined Mensa and discovered that it's a society for unsuccessful people with high IQ scores. He did not renew his membership. I remember a letter in the Mensa magazine where a woman said, "I think my boss is intimidated by my high intelligence. I have an IQ of 256. I'm the secretary for the whole department and he keeps picking on me."

The Simpson's episode that showed that the Springfield Mensa Society was led by Comic Book Guy and Principal Skinner pretty much nailed it.

No love for Keeping Up Appearances?

I mean, it's been on PBS forever as well, it has a lady with the last name Bucket (pronounced 'bouquet') and everybody says her last name as it looks on paper. Stroke of genius!

Dont think this list was very "smart". This guy doesnt have any experience to pick a list and speak as if was Mensa picked. He obviously didnt see every show or probably hasnt used any criteria except personal preference. So why do it?

The thread title's misleading, as it's not an official Mensa list, and he never claimed it was. It's just a list of his "personal favorites," as he says so himself. As to why he made a list it's simple: he was asked to.

Ok first message by me, so hey everyone.

My parents are in Mensa and I go with them to loads of events, and personally, I don't think most of the people in Mensa(at least not the ones who go to the events with my folks) would ever watch those shows. They like mainly science fiction or don't watch tv.

I agree that the tech on the show is fairly accurate, but its not just the speed but techniques and people doing them would never actually being doing them either. I just found it funny how they mentioned it. I mean the amount of cross contamination would pretty much get every case ever thrown out. But I get what your saying.
