"Lucy" 5/4

What did people think of this 3 hour TV movie? I thought it was okay. I'd get it a C+/B-. Could've been a lot better, but then I think they had so much terrain to cover in a tv movie WITH commercials. The movie seemed rushed to me, and why they didn't make the actor playing Desi gain a good 15 pounds I just don't know.

I thought York (Lucy) did a solid job. Sometimes she seemed to try to hard and would over act, other times she would make an expression and look/sound just like Lucy Ricardo.

Others?

I shut it off after 30-40 minutes. But to be fair I've never been a Lucy fan. From the commercials, and what I saw of it, it appeared to be similar to the Jackie Gleason one that they did where it was a lot of "tabloid" style of story telling.

Anyways was the guy playing Dezi the same guy who played Armadillo on The Shield?

It was OK. It just seemed to whiz along without getting into any specific topic too in-depth. I guess I would of liked a mini-series with an extra hour or so. Two nights of two hours would of gone better than a straight 3 hours.

CBS aired a biopic of Lucy and Desi a few years ago. They aired this one too soon after. I didn't watch this one.

I wanted to watch it, but didn't get a chance, due to tornado coverage in my area. When will CBS re air it?

I found it. Lucy & Desi: Before the Laughter aired in 1991 starring Maurice Bernard (of General Hospital) as Desi Arnaz and Frances Fisher as Lucille Ball. It portrayed the problems with their marriage.
