Did anyone else get a $5 coupon/credit from Vudu for the new PS3 update? It says that it's for a rental, but I'm curious if I can use it for any purchase.

There's a lot of rumors going around that Disney Movies Anywhere will add Vudu. Possibly as soon as tomorrow. They're teasing a big announcement on the DMA Facebook page:

You're mixing up Disney Movies Anywhere with Disney's Digital Copy Plus.

Disney Copy Plus codes are redeemable at Vudu. But those have only been around for the past year or so.

Before that, all Disney digital copies were iTunes only. If the DMA program connects to Vudu, then all the old iTunes digital copies will transfer over to your Vudu library.

This doesn't make much sense. A streaming stick that's limited to one service? Since the other streaming sticks are in the $35-$50 range, they're going to have to price this pretty cheap. Probably in the $10-$15 range. Or maybe give it away free when you purchase Vudu pre-orders.

I have to assume it'll be free with some blu-rays as a pack-in at some point. I'm tired of all these basic streaming sticks, somebody needs to do one that, instead of just an HDMI dongle, is an HDMI pass-thru like the XB one.

Or if this somehow boosts wifi or something . I was thinking the same thing, since you can use their service on other streaming devices, this seems kind of pointless.

I don't think they're aiming to compete, this is probably intended for those that don't know a whole lot about "streaming". And other Walmart shoppers.

Doesn't have compete with other streaming boxes.

If they sell it cheaply enough to Walmart customers and lock them into buying and renting streaming movies from Vudu, then they've accomplished their goal.

Much like printers, give away the printer (Vudu spark) and make the money on the ink/toner (movies).
