What concert did you recently attend?

So maybe it's just Depeche Mode who has a habit of cranking their sound? I shouldn't have to wear earplugs just to reduce excessive audio that's killing everyone's hearing. The funny part is I worked as a theater film projectionist and got a LOT of complaints (mainly from old people) that the sound there was too loud, even when we were already playing it lower than the industry standard to appease such people in the first place! Hope those people never went to concerts. I like it plenty loud enough to hear and feel, but there's still a point of ridiculousness.

I think almost every show is damaging your hearing somewhat, it's the ones that leave your ears ringing for a couple days that have already done some serious damage. I wear them for every show and if the volume is comfortable, I can loosen the suction back to let more sound through.
But, yeah, the loudest show I've been at was Metallica in 1989. It wasn't just ringing in my ears after the show (which was common after every show, --- I should have been wearing earplugs back in those days), but my hearing was muffled like I was holding my hands against my ears, for about 2 weeks, then I had issues with ringing/tinnitus for years after that when it is quiet.

Saw Dokken last night. Was pretty good. Forgetful though really. Don wasn't really into it it seemed. Wasn't too happy with the casino crowd. Band played well, but Don was too slow and it kinda ruined a few songs. Meh. It was free.

I mostly go to club shows now, and I always have a pair of earplugs on hand. I don't always wear them, but if the volume is more than I'm comfortable with, in they go.

Saw the Scorpions and Megadeth at The Forum on Saturday. Both bands brought their A-game. Turns out that the had to cancel the rest of the tour after our show.

Yeah, Queensryche was promoting their Mindcrime album. I saw the show in Binghamton NY while a co-op student at IBM.

Re: What concert did you recently attend?
I saw Superjoint, DevilDriver, along with opening acts King Parrot, Cane Hill and Child Bite in Joliet.
Meet & Greet for DevilDriver got moved from 4:30pm before the show to just after DevilDriver's set. We had to wait around their merch booth until just before Superjoint took the stage, then we left the club to meet with DevilDriver in their tour bus to talk and get stuff signed. Unfortunately, that meant losing my spot up front, and missing a decent portion of the Superjoint set.
If anyone that likes metal hasn't experienced King Parrot yet, I would definitely recommend seeing them live just to witness the constant frenetic energy of the band and their somewhat silly demeanor.

Saw Dust Bolt, Power Trip, Obituary and Exodus last Sunday and Thanatology, Artificial Brain, Revocation, and Cattle Decapitation last night. All of them were excellent but Obituary, Artificial Brain, and Cattle Decap were definitely the best.

I wear ear plugs for every single concert I attend, I don't care what genre it is, the shit is usually way too loud regardless.
I learned my lesson like 8 years ago when I had my ears ringing until the next day. Scary thing not knowing when/if it would stop and then realizing how stupid you are not protecting yourself.

I'm going to see the Foo Fighters on Saturday night at the Richmond Coliseum. Future shows that I have tickets for are: Squeeze at the 9:30 Club on 11/28, Morrissey at the Athem on 11/30, Lana Del Rey at Capital One Arena on 1/25, Marilyn Manson at Ram's Head Live on 2/13, OMD at the 9:30 Club on 3/6. And these ladies in NYC in February. A guilty pleasure.

I'm seeing Ben Folds at the Murat Theatre in Indy in a couple of weeks. Caught him on the first half of the tour here in Bloomington at the Buskirk-Chumley back in February(?). What a treat it was to catch him in a college setting.
Just him and his piano. The first set is a list of songs he likes but doesn't get to play in public terribly often. For the second set, the audience submits requests by writing a song title down and hurling it at the stage inside a paper airplane. Ben then walks around the stage, grabs a plane at random, and goes to work.

Royal Blood was great! I'm constantly amazed by two person bands like them that are able to put together such a great sound. Royal Blood, Black Keys, White Stripes. Big fan of them all.
QoTSA was really good too, but really I was there for Royal Blood, and was not disappointed.

Went to see Paul Cauthen play a couple weeks back. Small venue - and smaller audience - but helluva show for fans of country outlaw/funk/rockabilly/soul.

Leaving my house in just a few minutes to catch Dinosaur Jr. I missed them the last time they were in town and finally things lined up. Can't wait!

Seeing The Sounds at The Fonda 11/12. I was surprised at how many shows they're doing in SOCAL. Hell, they're even playing in San Luis Obispo. They're playing 2 shows at the Fonda, Observatory, Glasshouse in Pomona, and some dive in Pioneertown.

Yeah, I saw Royal Blood at the 9:30 Club here in D.C. back in 2015 and they blew the roof off the venue. Loved that first album, loved them even more live.
