No particulars given, so I don't know if the purchases need to be a minimum amount or if the $5 coupon is off of $15, $20 or some other amount.
That seems odd. So I can technically go to the store to purchase 3 items, and if I purchase them on 3 separate receipts I will get a $5 coupon, but if I purchase them all on the same receipt I won't?

Details would certainly be helpful. It's possible the purchases need to be made on 3 separate days.

I'm hopeful that Big Lots might send out an e-mail explaining this change, since they obviously have communicated it to the stores. Otherwise, it will be trial and error figuring out how it works exactly.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

It appears they've put this info on their website:

http://www.biglots.com/bigrewards/bi...ref=CJ#detail3

Looks like no minimum purchase amount. It is 1 purchase per day per store. You can only get one $5 reward a week. However, they build up per this tidbit:

We’d love for you to shop with us more frequently! You can receive one $5 Reward per week. If you shop more during a week, any additional qualifying purchases and subsequent earned Rewards will carry over into future weeks for up to 12 months. For example, if you make 9 qualified purchases in one week (Sunday - Saturday), you will receive one reward per week for the next 3 weeks.
I read on another site, it's a $5 off $15 reward. The site doesn't specifically mention that, just calling them a $5 reward. And it looks like you can use more than one on a transaction. And when redeeming one, that counts as a purchase toward the next one.

All in all, a good deal if you have one nearby. I may make it a habit to stop in for a small purchase frequently.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

That's certainly an improvement over the past couple of years! I have one close by and making several small purchased during a week is almost a no-brainer.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I got the email too. The closest, non-grocery, non-Walgreen's to me is a Big Lots. It's about a half mile. It would not be difficult to go there every day, but I think they will have to impose a minimum purchase soon. If I went up there and spent a dollar every day, they would be giving me $5 for every $3 I spent. I could save on gas by walking there and probably lose a few pounds. I could be like Jared from Subway! No, wait...

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

The weirdest thing, the Big Lots here on Westheimer...me and my wife go there about every two weeks and they usually have an assortment of blu-rays...I'd say 15-20, maybe 30 to thumb through. This time? ZERO. All DVD's. I know nobody came in and bought a couple of dozen. The only blu-rays in the whole store was in this weird Christmas display in the one of the Food aisles and there was 3 (2 of the same title). It was sad, kinda what happened at the Costco (and Sams a couple of years before that), one day just jack and shit. Glad I grabbed Starship Troopers Invasion on the last trip before that.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

We have 2 in our area and one of them almost always has zero or near zero Blu-ray. The other seems to always have a fair quantity. I suspect the one location has a reseller or an employee that is buying up the stock.

I used to be a retailer who bought from BL. Their prices are no longer low enough on most titles for most retailers.

I'll tell you this though - recall the wave of $3 DVDs when they first hit Big Lots in the 2007/2008 time frame ? It was a massive HBO, Paramount and MGM catalog dump. Am still making out pretty on several of those titles that are now OOP and don't have a BD release yet. Surprisingly there's still the odd DVD that sells for quite a fortune on Amazon and eBay. 'Kitchen Stories' DVD for e.g that I purchased for $1.88 sold recently for $25. But yeah, those days of finding obscure titles are long gone. If you however want a dozen Full Screen copies of Bruno or Borat for $5, Big Lots is your headquarters now

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I dumped my remaining dvd stock @ $1 ea about 2 years ago. Most of it was BL $3.00 dvd's + some used stuff. I've probably got 30-50 pieces right now I've accumulated since then, but nothing worth big %'s.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

The 2 locations I visit most frequently have put out all the new stuff in the last few days. In fact, I've started stopping by my local store for a $1-2 purchase daily (I'm by there often), with hopes of increasing the flow of $5 coupons. This store had some new things available yesterday and the "Black Friday" display set up today.

Some BDs not listed above that I recall:

Amazing Spider-Man - $5
Hide and Seek - $3
Last Vegas - $5
A Million Ways to Die in the West - $3
Rebel Without a Cause - $5
Runner Runner - $5

Lots of TV on DVD for $5/$8

The Shield - Season 3 - $5
Family Guys seasons - $5
Arrested Development - Seasons 1-4 - $8 each
New Girl seasons - $8

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

So today was different than yesterday. There were some $2.88 titles in the display--obviously a preview of Black Friday. Nothing too exciting, single copies of the following:

The Fault in Our Stars (that same title has been available for $5)
S.W.A.T.: Firefight
Joyride 3
Ferngully: The Last Rainforest
12 Rounds
Immortals

There were also several new $3 films. At least, I don't recall seeing them before.

Cruel Intentions
Premium Rush

Those were 2. My mind is blank at the moment and I might come back and add to the list...

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Found an official Black Friday display already out. The top of it indicated so with titles at $1.88/$2.88

Here's what I found for $1.88:

13 Going on 30
41 Year Old Virgin
Bulletproof Monk
Chasing Mavericks
Easy A
Get Shorty
Get the Gringo
Joy Ride 3
Safe Haven
Seal Team 8
Twelve
Woman in Black 2
Wrong Turn 2
Wrong Turn 3

Lots of other stuff (too much to list, but I might go back and take some notes) @ $2.88. Several which have been at Big Lots before for $3 and $5.

DVDs at both prices as well.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I hadn't been to this Big Lots in months but today I found 2 separate waterfall displays stuffed with new stock. This didn't appear to be the Black Friday copies, as everything was still $3 or $5.

They had some decent finds, including Death Wish 3, This Means War, Aloha and Pixels 3D.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

I saw several of those mentioned above, plus Be Cool for $3.

13 Going on 30 was there, but only the regular edition and not the Target exclusive that I've heard is also out there.

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

72nd in Tacoma Wa had much of the BF stuff listed out. No special display. Oddly, the better titles were still there; most of the under $300 junk was gone.

Considered The Fly & Rebel W/O A Cause, but I already have Rebel on dvd & good thing I didn't buy The Fly as I forgot I already bought the br direct from Fox!

Re: Big Lots Blu-rays

Had no intentions of stepping out this morning, but when I seen that I received a $5 off $15 coupon from Big Lots, I was out the door! The store was not crowded, & their special BF movie cardboard shipper seemed virtually untouched. Picked up:

$1.88 BD's
Mercenary For Justice

$2.88 BD's
Courage Under Fire
Runaway Jury
House on the End of the Street Unrated
One Hour Photo
The Family
Black or White
Pixels 3D

Also picked up 2 holiday BD's at $5 apiece:
Arthur Christmas
Freebirds
