How about Jim Carrey?
I know he's already been used, but since we're apparently forgetting the old movies ever existed, why not?

(Too old)
I'd like to see this guy in the gang of villains:
I really hope they go one villian at a time from now on...

I got an idea for an approach when I looked at the back of The Killing Joke graphic novel. It shows a card with Batman on one end and the Joker on the other, which is supposed to show how they are linked as banes to each other existence and the flip side of the same coin.
After seeing him in American Psycho and shots of him in The Machinist, I was thinking Christian Bale could play both Batman and the Joker. It would definitely lend credence to Joker being Batman's arch-nemesis and him knowing him better than any other foe.

Jack Nicholson. Since Cesar Romero is a definite no-go, Jack is the only choice for this role. He perfected it in Keaton's Batman and every actor under consideration for this role is going to do their level best to channel his performance.

I really don't think it would be that great of a leap to re-cast Nicholson in the role. Sure, there will be some association with Burton's work but Nicholson's Joker is admittedly the best movie adapted villian to date. I personally don't see the problem with a little continuity by bringing Nicholson back.

Whoever they choose, the movie should still be Batman's, not the Joker's. The trap the other movies fell into was that too much emphasis was put on the villian, which is why Batman Begins works for me.

They need to take it a difference direction IMO.

I had a discussion about this at work a few months ago. We all pretty much agreed that Johnny Depp would be able to pull it off. He practically already looks like him in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
