I can respect that could be the case except the disc I saw was a dual layer disc and the size was 7.04 gigs. It's an R3 NTSC disc. That is why we moved it to the Malata, it wouldn't play on the Sony R1 machine. It had both audio options, and Korean subs' and English. This wasn't a D5. Also, the person who showed this to me works in the movie industry. Not that this means much, but this wasn't a download or anything of that nature. Of course, he could be lying to me and this is some type of fake. He wouldn't let me borrow it, even though I told him I had a pre-order on yesasia

Anyhow, I went to see it again, but this time on a PC to take a snapshot of the menu and to see if the pic was really like that. It looks a lot better on the PC then it did on the DVD/TV combo. I don't see the black crush at all now when he put it on his monitor. I guess it's possible (or seems likely) it was the DVD/TV...here's the setup menu on the R3 I saw courtesy of the guy. I took some other screen caps, but I use dial-up (24.4k) so it would take me some time to post them online. I notice the audio says 5.1, not DTS so I have no idea. The menu's are beautiful btw;

Strange,I don't know what to say other than maybe the player was having a issue reading the disc properly. Hmm ohh well, I'll wait & judge for myself. This will probably be one of those movies I pickup 2 copies of so I can have the r1's subtitled extras. Well hopefully the issues you noticed won't be evident on the final product. Thank you for the menu shot as well, it looks quite swell.

DTS missing. =/

I have no clue, but as I mentioned when I saw it last night on his monitor the problems I mentioned were not there. I can't wait for my YesAsia order to ship so I can see this damn movie again. lol

I checked the status of my order w/Yesasia and it looks like their shipping mine out on the 16th. Looks like I'm getting mine earlier than expected. They had it posted as 2/23 when I first pre-ordered.

and if you could let us know if the extras are indeed not subbed, that would be cool.

Still waiting as well...

I ordered mine on the 14th of February from YesAsia.com and they're attempting to get it from their suppliers. The demand has seemed to overwhelm their shipping process. (At least they're not sold out like THE HOST LE GIFT SET!).

According to the folks over at The Import Forums, the extras on this set do not have English subs. The link above is to the page of the Pan's Labyrinth thread over at that board where the information about the subs is posted. Check out the other pages of the thread for more pictures and all that good stuff.

Weird, they were out of the gift set when I tried to place my order (ended up ordering from dvdsfromkorea.com).

No... I know the factories in China don't open until next Monday. It's a 10 day holiday. The Banks are 2-3 days I think.

I received mine (from DVDasian) yesterday. The packaging is just as great in person.

Now to figure out when I will have the time to watch it.

I got my set yesterday - it's VERY nice. It's worth having just for the packaging.

The outter case is like a sturdy hard-back leather-bound book. The booklett is in English with cool concept art. The menus are all in English, and the English subtitles seem to be just as they were in the theaters (they're white, BTW). The extras disc has a feature-length making-of, with (optional) Korean subtitles only. Most of the dialoge is in Spanish, but some of the people (like the CGI artists) are American and speak English - but the behind the scenes stuff is still cool to watch even without English subs.

The DTS sounds really good and punchy, with pretty active surrounds when they kick in. The video isn't the best I've ever seen, but it's pretty good, and progressively flagged - it looks appropriately gritty.

Reminds me of the Underworld Extended Edition casing for R3 Korean Version.
