Warner believes Booster Gold is their Deadpool. They've put a lot of development into the property already, which is why I think it's a fait accompli under Gunn.

This is exactly correct. WB doesn't want to burn any bridges with one of the biggest box office stars in Hollywood and this is their way of allowing Dwayne to save a little face from this fiasco.

I'm not sure what WB was doing letting this reboot out of the bag. Pretty much undercuts their entire 2023 theatrical output and gives one less reason to watch the Flash.

The big question now is whether Marvel goes after Cavill. Rub salt in the wound by casting him as Sentry or Hyperion. It's what I would do if I ran Marvel studios.

Looks like the Lobo project is a certainty under Gunn's leadership. Which makes sense, it's probably the best DC fit for his Guardians of the Galaxy formula.
