Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

I had no idea they were still operating one of their clubs! I had both CH and BMG *years* ago for CD deals but both shuttered. IIRC I never had a DVD/BR club membership (the "deals" just weren't...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Get another email address for the second account. They are free all over the web. Your ISP may offer secondary accounts with your internet subscription *or* "sub/throw-away" accounts linked to your...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Unlike Disney Movie Club the price that counts towards fulfillment at CH is *typically* the "Club Price" and *not* the discount price. There *are* exceptions so be careful. The exceptions seem to...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

^It's been a while for me. The last membership I "Cancelled" they converted to a "Freedom" account rather than outright cancel. They send a catalog via mail every 4-5 weeks for 6 months and if I...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Exactly! I got the impression that many who are building up points either don't know or don't care. It seems that most of those posting about their "deals" don't look at the "imputed" cost, only...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

IMHO "bonus points" are still pretty worthless if you are cycling accounts. However, many seem to be purchasing BR and build up bonus points. I think it's mainly due to BR not being available as...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

If they want the incorrect title returned they'll provide a pre-paid label because it was their fault. They typically will tell you they want it returned *but* I've not had this issue since they...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

^In the past *any* item with a $19.95 or higher price counted as a fulfillment even if a % off coupon lowered the price below $19.95. BUT CH has changed hands since the last time I made such an...

Yes. See #3...

The "Club price" aka MSRP.

No. However, the normal shipping discount takes effect on non-set items - i.e. the 2nd and up non-set item(s) will cost $1.99 each...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Any DVD/set with a club price of $19.95 and up *should* count, even if it's a "bundle" deal. However, the only way you'll know 100% is to make the purchase.

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

^WOW! I've not looked at that thread in so long I forgot it even exists! Yes, it's out of date on *many* items. I believe that section is more out-of-date than the date of the last update on that...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

^Which FAQ? Unless something's changed, $39.95 - $59.94 counts as 2 with $59.95 and up counting as 3.

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Sounds plausible. Just make sure to use a different email address as well.

Have you tried opening an account with simply a different email address than you've used in the past?

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

"...newcomers should be aware that it isn’t practical to purchase BDs priced at less than $19.95."

Meaning you will only hurt your average if you do so. ...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

As stated in the OP:

Selections purchased at $39.95 to $59.94 count for two
Selections purchased at $59.95 to $79.94 count for three...

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Re: Questions about Columbia House? Ask them here, Part II

Do you use a different email address for each account? That could be an issue. I use 4-6 different ones and cycle through them. But, it's a different company which owns CH than before. These...
