Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

According to listings at Amazon, it looks like many of the gold box and newer black box sets have four discs inside and not the flippers, which make these a steal. Unfortunately, not all of them are...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I don't know if these have been spotted, but just for reference: The Burt Lancaster and Doris Day sets include four separate original release discs with all the extras. They are incredible bargains...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Local Walmart here did not have the WB setup, just a few copies of the first TARZAN quad pack for $9.96. That was the only one I could find.

I picked up the Mill Creek/Columbia double feature Blu...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

KINO's essentially bare bones Blu releases of public domain movies are notoriously overpriced and they don't always get good reviews for decent transfers. Buyer beware when it comes to KINO.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Though not at BIG LOTS at any price, SCARLET STREET has been released in a very good transfer by KINO, both on SD and on Blu Ray. I haven't checked lately, but it had been one of KINO's more...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

These haven't yet shown up in the Chicago area, I guess.

Over on another forum there are reports of two volumes of the vintage television series BAT MASTERSON, also from TGG, in Walmart for $5.00...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Have been to five different Walmarts since those MGM/TGG double features were reported above and found none of them. I'm beginning to think this is an urban legend. Of course I would believe anything...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

THE STRANGER AND THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW from MGM are both OOP. The former goes for big bucks on secondary markets, so this is a cheap alternative to get the best transfer of this public domain...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

There is a separate thread about the 100 movie packs currently on sale at Walmart. ;)

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

A new four pack of classic James Stewart Universal westerns has landed in the dump bin. No extras and THE FAR COUNTRY is full frame, but still not a bad deal for five bucks.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I admit it took many years to make my peace with Shemp, but since then I have come to love the guy. I also conjure up images of him whenever I need to rid myself of an inopportune hard on. I know, I...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Speaking of Kmart, anyone find that BLACULA double feature there lately? I passed it up at Walmart a couple of years ago and now wish I hadn't. I've found other "Soul Cinema" doubles at Kmart, but...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

SSSSSsss is one of the creepiest and saddest horror films I've ever seen. Except for a lackluster climax, it's an excellent tragic horror movie.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Just be careful with buying the sets and getting duplicate titles. Mill Creek is notorious for re-releasing the same movies over and over again on different sets with different packaging.

For...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

For fans of public domain collections Walmart has a bunch of Mill Creek 50 packs for $10, which is a good deal for these. At my local store they are in a special box display in the aisle. Mill Creek...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Hasslein, those are all marked $5.00 at the Wal Mart here. Are they ringing up at $2.50?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Does anyone know if the $5 repackaging of the Burt Lancaster western triple feature of LAWMAN, KENTUCKIAN and UNFORGIVEN are letterboxed versions? It doesn't say anywhere on the case and Amazon and...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Picked up the MGM version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL in the dump bin. Only copy I could find. Maybe this was a Big Lots title once upon a time, but I never saw it there and there was no slash in the bar...

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I think your Wal-Mart should just come out already and admit its true inclination and preference. Life is too short to hide who you really are.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Most of the crap in the dump bin isn't worth $5 regardless of what packaging it's in. Wal-Mart should have taken the cue from Big Lots long ago and reduced their dump bin price to $3.00 or less. ...
