Dave's "Eat Em And Smile" (both the album and tour) wiped the floor with 5150. Watching Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan duel each other with their solos was freakin' mindblowing.

A Different Kind of Truth was a decent album... the subject of old demos brought back to life notwithstanding, it wasn't exactly a revelation, more like a, "Oh... that's nice."

Van Halen ended for me in 1984 (both the album and the year). I'm happy leaving them there. David Lee Roth ended with the superlative Eat 'Em And Smile album in 1986 and I'm more than happy leaving...
