Re: Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

^Exactly. And the swaggering was a reference to how he always swaggers into a bar at the beginning as if he's Mr. Big. Like Gordon Ramsey, the fame has gone to Taffer's head.

Re: Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

Oh, goody! Brand-new encounters involving wide-eyed shouting and swaggering.

re: Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

Our new TV/Internet/phone provider doesn't offer Spike (yet). I don't miss this increasingly overblown show, but I do miss Ink Master. I don't know if the new season has started yet.

re: Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

Chix on Dix. The place reminded me why I never have, and never will, step foot in a strip club.

re: Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

They did update shows on "most stubborn owners" and "most delusional owners". Among the second group was that asshole supreme, Steve Ricci, of the renamed - and now defunct - Metal & Lace bar, who...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

^Good point. I didn't find the name "Bar V" an improvement over the old one. I also find the new signs Taffer's people put up singularly unimpressive. The text is almost always too small to stand...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

You can also see that in the first season Taffer was less eruptive and confrontational. Nowadays he always yells into the camera when giving his asides, and swaggers around like an ape. It's highly...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

 A bit of manipulation is to be expected I suppose, but those shows that are outright fake (re-enactments) but pose as real are infuriating (e.g., Mystery Diners and all those rubbish towing and...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

I also watched it last night. Bunch of sorry rednecks. Appropriate that the bar was a repurposed double-wide. I felt sorry for the doorman, and hope Taffer helped him get a job elsewhere. That...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

That's it, thanks! Owner's name is Steve Ricci, but I can't find a pic of the dipshit. Apparently he's still ripping off people who work for him (see Yelp).

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

I have it PVRed. Looking forward to it. One of the biggest assholes he ever had on the show was the guy whose employees were living solely off tips, or something like that. I can't remember the...

Re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

It doesn't come across as fake to me, and I can almost always detect these things. Taffer's "blowhard" persona is wearing thin. It's hilarious to see him swagger into a bar, head tilting back and...

Re: Bar Rescue

See, he wasn't like that in the first season, so I think Spike told him to raise the volume and turn on the expletives.

Re: Bar Rescue

Just FYI, I started a thread about this last year and no one gave a damn.

I'm still watching and enjoying the show, but something tells me Spike told Taffer to ramp up the abusiveness. He was not...

re: "Bar Rescue" - Sundays on Spike

This hasn't been on for a few weeks, so I was afraid it had been cancelled. Thankfully, it hasn't. Spike has renewed it for a second season, but air dates are unknown.

Bar Rescue (Paramount Network) -- Discussion Thread

Anyone else tuning in to this? I find it a compelling variant on the Kitchen Nightmares blueprint, but mostly sans the bombastic Fox production (although the show does also bankroll a full reno...
