They probably love those 80's pop ballads The Flame and Can't Stop Fallin' Into Love.

Like Chicago, Cheap Trick's 70's output is what is getting them in the Hall.

Softer than the many 50's and Motown inductees? The early stuff rocks just as much as many other 70's artists. I doubt very much their nomination is due to their output during the 80's and 90's.
