Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Is one of the few heavy metal bands i can still listen to. I really got disappointed and lost interest on them since Jason left. They are no more Metallica.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

A little over a year ago, we proudly reissued our first two albums remastered for the most advanced sound quality possible along with special deluxe editions including previously unreleased audio and video recordings. We promised to give that love to the entire catalog, and we’re back today with all the details about the release of Master of Puppets, coming to your favorite music retailer and Metallica.com on November 10th.

Available in both physical and digital versions (digital available on November 10th), we’ve got several options for your Metalli-pleasure... CD, vinyl, 3-CD expanded edition and deluxe box set. The 3-CD set includes the remastered album, a disc that is a combination of rough mixes, demos and an interview, and a disc featuring a mix of live songs that are sequenced into a typical set list from the Damage, Inc. tour. The limited edition deluxe box set includes unreleased demos, rough mixes, interviews and live tracks, many of which have never even been available in the collector or bootleg community and were pulled from our personal collections. There’s also a 108-page hardcover book with rare and never before seen photos and essays from those who were there with us for the wild ride. All in all, there are three LPs, ten CDs, a cassette, two DVDs, a lithograph with art by Pushead, a folder with handwritten lyrics, and if that isn’t enough to push you over the edge, we’ve also thrown in a set of six buttons (!).

Pre-order your copy now and we’ll send you a digital remastered version of “Disposable Heroes” while 3-CD and deluxe box pre-orders will also receive a download of “The Thing That Should Not Be” live at the Aragon Ballroom, Chicago, IL recorded on May 25, 1986. Several additional instant grats will be sent to all pre-orders between now and November 10th.

Deluxe box sets are limited edition collectors’ items, so get yours before they are gone! You may pre-order all the configurations at the Met Store now, available at your local record stores around the world on Friday, November 10th.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Holy shit that deluxe set is stacked. But for $175? Not sure how often I'd spin all that extra live stuff. I already have a couple dozen live bootleg albums as it is.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Man Metallica really does these box sets right. Since I listen to primarily live music, any artist that includes this much live material is aces in my book. I don't have much use for the demo's and outtakes other than as a one off curiosity but the live tracks will be played constantly. The live stuff from the first 2 box sets has not left my media player since I got it and gets listened to all the time.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Amazon must have had the remastered Ride the Lightening mispriced as I snagged the vinyl record for $9.

I did notice the volume is "mixed" a hair lower to a point where you gotta turn it up a tad louder than usual but yeah, you can def hear the differences.

Can't wait for the inevitable Justice box set remaster with actual bass!

Oh man, finally! This will be an early Christmas present to myself.

I still need to get the Lightning deluxe box set but have the KEA box and it is great. Metallica does a fantastic job with these sets.

Sweet price.

I saw Ride the Lightning was $18 and change, but out of stock, too.

Yea it was $9 a week or so ago. But that price didn't last. Not a bad deal getting them for $20 total.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Holy shit. Just got my Kill em All vinyl and it sounds amazing. Growing up, I learned this album on guitar and heard it a ton of times. The vinyl has breathed new life into it and I can't imagine how good the others sounds. Wow.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

I met Bob Rock today. Not much more than a quick "Hello, I'm a fan." But he seemed like a nice dude. I should have thanked him for getting such good solo's out of Kirk Hammett, but I don't think he would have liked that.

Re: The all things METALLICA thread!

Hard to say, or know rather, unless it's written in the booklet. Far as I know Kirk had done all demos starting late June/early July
Very interesting version. Sounds like something Rob Zombie would use in one of his films.
