Tears for Fears fans: What is your favorite Album/Song?

Re: Tears for Fears fans: What is your favorite Album/Song?
Am I the only one that absolutely loathes Gary Jules' cover of Mad World? God what a way to ruin a classic pop track.

I didn't mind it at first but I hated the overkill and complete burying of the original version.
How about we do an album by album thread or perhaps start the conversation here? It'd be interesting to hear more about others' favorite songs and opinions on albums.

Re: Tears for Fears fans: What is your favorite Album/Song?
I've been a pretty big Tears for Fears fan for a long time. It's difficult to say which album I like best because I like The Hurting and Songs from the Big Chair quite a bit. But if pressured I would probably say The Hurting because I feel it's a more consistent album.
As far as songs; everytime I hear "Everybody wants to Rule the World" it brightens my day. That's the song that made me fall in love with the band and I was amazed after years of not hearing it I still knew every beat and word.
For those that are big "The Working Hour" fans, what did you think of the piano version from the Deluxe Edition of the album?

Since no one's mentioned it, I will. "Quiet Ones" from ELaHE is my favorite track from that album. Overall, "...Seeds of Love" wins my top spot.

Are they going to make a followup to 2004's Everybody Loves a Happy Ending or did they break up again?

Supposedly they've been working on new material; they are touring this summer and I hope to catch them in September.

Re: Tears for Fears fans: What is your favorite Album/Song?
I don't want to be a dick, but isn't the album called "The Seeds of Love" and the single called "Sowing the Seeds of Love"? Or do I have that reversed? Or are they both called "Sowing the Seeds..." I ask because I've seen a few posts calling the album "Sowing the Seeds". I could google it, but I'm going off memory which may be faulty. I think the album was "The Seeds of Love" and the single "Sowing the Seeds of Love", just to be music nerdy and picky.
Album I'll go "Seeds of Love" or whatever it's called. Nice pop album and Oleta Adams gives good back-up.
Song: many to choose. Can't...pick....just... one. I could go "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" but I also like "Woman in Chains" and "Sowing the Seeds".... Good band.

Re: Tears for Fears fans: What is your favorite Album/Song?
Album: Songs from the Big Chair - while the chart-topping singles from this album get most of the attention (deservedly so), what puts this album at the top for me is "Mothers Talk", "I Believe", and....
Song: The Working Hour - one of my favorite songs by ANY artist. The sax intro, then the piano, the haunting vocals, finally the sax firing back up over a driving beat for the final 90 seconds - perfection. Back in the day, I used to set the stereo snooze to 60 minutes, throw this on repeat, and let it play over and over until I fell asleep. I never get sick of hearing it

Wow! That's an amazing package! (I know...that's what she said.)
To reply to the question in the OP:
Favorite album: Songs from the Big Chair
Favorite song: "Advice for the Young at Heart"
Favorite lesser-known song (at least here in the States): "The Way You Are"

Pale Shelter, and it's not even close.
Having said that, Songs From The Big Chair is probably my favourite album, by them.

Anyone else think it's kinda weird that Songs From The Big Chair, arguably one of the biggest albums from the '80s is out of print?
(seems to be in print on vinyl, but the CD, both regular and deluxe editions, are definitely out of print)

This thread inspired me to check out more of TFF's music. I'd only been familiar with the big three hits from SFTBC and "Mad World."
My biggest discovery so far: both guys sang lead vocals. This was a surprise to me. To my ears, the lead vocal on "Head Over Heels" is identical to the lead vocal on "Everybody Wants to Rule the World." How can these two guys sound so much alike?

Maybe they are going to remaster it and put out a new edition?

I always preferred Roland's vocals.

I'm admittedly not very familiar with their work, but for the songs I do know, the two members' vocals sound identical to me. They both have smooth, back-of-the-throat baritone vocals that sound very similar to my ears. All these years I thought Roland sang everything.

Yeah that is strange. Tears for Fears was one of the few artists that I kept the actual CDs when I purged 95% of my collection last year. I still have the original CD release.

Raoul & Kings of Spain, Falling Down, Secrets, and God Mistake's is a pretty good quartet to start a album though Curt Smith was not on that album.
