Weren't they planning to do a Joker and Harley Quinn movie? Was that scrapped?

Who the fuck knows with WB/DC. They have all these announcements yet it seems like hardly anything is actually in production or close to even starting.

Wait...did DC give Phantom Stranger an origin story? I remember back in the 80's an issue of Secret Origins where they presented 4 possible origin stories for the Stranger but nothing definitive. Did they change that?

Yeah, in the new 52 but I don't know if they kept that for Rebirth. I seriously think they should go back to the multiple origins they had in Secret Origins.

I think I said this in another thread.. WB/DC might as well just do a series of unrelated Elseworld's stories.

I'd pay good money to see live-action Gaslight and Red Rain movies.

... but I'll still reluctantly cough up the dough to see this, out of morbid curiosity. Reserving judgment until I see who's cast as Joker.

They're doing an animated version of Gotham By Gaslight. DC's animated division stomps all over their live action division any day.

I KNOW. This pleases me, though the way Killing Joke turned out gives me pause.

Eh, some days. I'd probably make the case that Son of Batman, Batman vs. Robin, and Bad Blood are all more or less on the same level as Snyder and Ayer's live-action movies.

It's just a bunch of vaporware.

They're constantly "unofficially" announcing a new film every couple of weeks, but very little seems to be in active development, let alone production.

WW was alright. Had a lot of potential early in the film but it goes to mainstream mediocre fast past a certain point in the movie.

I don't know how this help out WB w/ the property aside from more money but whatever. Killing Joke was great and is the closest thing I take to what his origin is but do like that Joker never really goes with it either. Even he knows he has multiple origins that people know of.

Nothing will stop these films from getting made like a few unmitigated financial nuclear bombs. If they make expensive crap and nobody goes to see it (i.e. Ghostbusters : Answer The Call), they won't put more out just like it. They're in the money-making business, not the prestige cinema industry. If folks keep showing up to watch their dreck in theaters (i.e. Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad), then the studios will keep cranking them out, Tomatometer be damned. It's us that are perpetuating this cycle of crap, not them.

At least that would give Dane Dehaan a job as young Joker.

So when they say "young Joker," they mean three years younger than current Joker.

The two could fight it out for the love of Claire Danes.

re: Joker (2019, D: Todd Phillips) -- S: Joaquin Phoenix

I know people will say: but Heath Ledger was great and people doubted him when I say my thoughts or Michael Keaton was a great Batman and everyone hated the idea at the time. I get that and those are true statements and I do like Leo but I'm sorry I don't see him as The Joker at all. He just doesn't seem like the right fit in any way, shape, or form. I know he's had a diverse career and can pull off a variety of characters but I can't picture him at all. Plus aside from Scorsese maybe being part of it I can't honestly see a scenario where a big time A lister like him would sign on. It seems like wishful thinking on WB's part. Also, is this going to be an origin story or just an earlier in his career story because Leo isn't exactly a young guy anymore.
