Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

In the vast minority, but... no, never have fallen asleep. If a movie isn't grabbing my attention, I may allow my mind to wander and think about other things, but haven't dozed off.

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

Went to see the Star Wars re-release and went out like a light. Also took my kids to see a Pokemon movie and slept through almost the entire thing.

How any of you people fall asleep in theaters full of chatting, texting, crying babies and popcorn-throwing teens is beyond me.

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

Just once that I can remember, during City of Embers. I was tired and had a hard time getting into the movie. So I just laid my head back and took a quality nap.

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

Only when I take my kid to some terrible animated film. Did it just the other day at Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 (awful sequel).

We both walked out of Speed Racer when he was younger because I kept falling asleep and he was bored. I may fall asleep from time to time but I almost never walk out of a movie.

Being as sleep deprived as I am, it's hard not to. And yes, Transformers 2 was one for me as well. God, that movie dragged on forever.

Dosed off a few times while watching Gerry in theatres. Honestly don't know how you can't dose off at least a little bit while watching that movie.

I can't think of a single instance where I have, but my brother slept through damn near the entirety of The Fountain when we saw it theatrically. His loss.

Once in 1994 on a date while viewing Interview with the Vampire. The movie was good but I had worked a long shift and had a bunch of drinks before so I was drunk & exhausted.

Holy shit that's the one movie I fell asleep to. Was just too tired.

Twice, once during Spider-man (2002) and again during Attack of the Clones.

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

My AMC replaced all of their seats last summer with power-reclining home theater seats. Since then, I've come close.

Last week I went to "Her". Halfway through, I heard one older lady snoring.

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

Several times off the top of my head for various reasons.

I remember these for sure:

The Crow (was pissed I missed it - I was exhausted from working UPS late)
Sphere (sucked, plus I had a lot of wine beforehand)
Monster U (hung around after seeing Elysium, guess I was too tired)

I fell asleep during the last 20 minutes of Tron Legacy (it's kinda dull) and midway through Madagascar (terrible, terrible film).

Re: Have you ever fallen asleep at the movies

Not at the theater, no. I've got a friend who does it all the time. We joke that he has to go to every movie twice, once to sleep then again to actually watch the movie.

How dare you! I'm surprised Pikachu didn't shock you awake with a thunderbolt attack!

I've fallen asleep often at movies. I remember seeing Fassbinder's ALI: FEAR EATS THE SOUL on a double bill with the Douglas Sirk movie, ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS and the Fassbinder was the second film and I started to nod out and snore during that one, but I was with a film school buddy who nudged me to stay awake.

I started to do the same during BATMAN BEGINS 30 years later, but I was with my daughter who kept nudging me as well, being the type to be embarrassed by her father snoring during a Batman film.

There've been plenty of others where I've managed to nod off peacefully with no companion to nudge me. But I can't remember which ones those are.

No, but at around the 45 minute mark of the rave scene in the second Matrix movie I was starting to nod off.

Only one out of boredom - The Scorpion King. I may have fallen asleep at others but those would have been more just needing some needed sleep.

One time, combination of tiredness and boredom, during Leathal Weapon 4
