re: "The Hateful Eight" (D:Tarantino) [UPDATE: SHELVING RECONSIDERED]
It's funny how this one is really rankling him when his past few movies all leaked years before they were produced. I remember having copies of Inglorious and Django at least 4 years before it finally came out. Never read them, though, because I just love seeing his movies with fresh eyes. But considering he'll probably never make this... I'd also love a heads-up PM if someone knows how to find this.

It's a lot like Sharon Stone, becomes a major star by doing a lot of nudity in her early career and then swears off nudity once she gets rich and famous and gives the message to younger actresses that they shouldn't do it.

It hasn't, to my knowledge, made its way to the general pubic yet.

I think he's pissed because he handed out copies of the script to a half dozen close friends, and one of copies got handed off to an agent. I don't think it's so much that the script leaked as it is that someone he trusted leaked it.

In addition, why are all these dummies so eager to let their dumb agents read the script? Can't they just read it themselves?? Even the Django producer went and called his agent over to read it. What is it with these guys?

What about the possibility that QT is just bailing on the project and this "leak outrage" is just a convenient excuse? It wouldn't surprise me in the least to have him finish the script, re-read it, and say "fuck it, I don't wanna make this movie anymore".

If that was the case, couldn't he say "fuck it" without the attention and elaborate story?

2. Seems weird that any contract he would have signed would have a clasue about a leak allowing for termination.

I'm wondering if Tarantino even told them not to show it to their agents or if he just assumed that since they are trusted friends, they wouldn't do that to begin with. I find it odd that a producer that has worked with him would go against his wishes by letting his agent look at the script.

I think it's for the better in a way because i wasn't interested in another western, but it was certainly better than a fucking kill bill 3.

You mean to say they'd disseminate false information for the purposes of commercial exploitation of a movie?! The hell you say! There isn't precedent for that!

re: "The Hateful Eight" (D:Tarantino) [UPDATE: SHELVING RECONSIDERED]
In a move that screams “douchebag,” one of the muckraking websites has illegally published the first draft of Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. I’m not going to say which one until Tarantino’s lawyers get into it, but that seems like a fairly bold thing to do, inviting everyone to link to an illegal copy of the script. A screenwriter friend informed that, given that this is Tarantino-owned material that he plans to publish as a book and make into a movie, it won’t be too hard to prove damages. Deadline revealed the other day that Tarantino was so incensed that the script leaked after he gave it to a handful of actors, he was going to shelve that script and work on a different one, publishing it in book form instead. Always was curious to see how well capitalized these websites are. Maybe we are about to find out.

re: "The Hateful Eight" (D:Tarantino) [UPDATE: SHELVING RECONSIDERED]
There's one weak spot in Tarantino's filmmaking and that is a naivety about violence, basically he ramps it up but overdoes it. No this is not "ooh you are a prude against violence", no it is that it becomes basically violence-porn and loses its effect over time. His own idol Sergio Leone had a finesse to violence and just had a sense how much to put to have the effect without making it less. In Basterds the whole bat scene and theater portion was me going "what is this?". But what the fuck do i know really in modern times as a modern person, because people lambasted Leone's violence in his flicks too during the 1960s.

I'm a complete QT nut and will watch anything he does, but I(coming from a fan mind you)haven't completely liked his last few films other than Django. His films have always been talky, but films such as Death Proof overdid it and plus it was boring. Hopefully this will be worth a watch
BTW:I would have loved to see a Kill Bill 3(or is it 2?)sad nothing will happen
