Ryan Reynolds recently shot a scene as Deadpool for 2017’s “Logan,” TheWrap has exclusively learned.
An individual with knowledge of the project tells TheWrap the “Deadpool” scene in “Logan” will most likely become a post-credit scene. Fox declined to comment.
This will actually be Reynolds’ second time playing Deadpool in a Wolverine film. In 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” he played a very different version of the antihero. In that film, the Merc With a Mouth ends up having no mouth at all — but far more powers than he displayed in this year’s standalone “Deadpool” movie, which reimagined Deadpool as much wittier.
“John Wick” co-director David Leitch, who was hired to direct “Deadpool 2” and replace director Tim Miller, recently directed Reynolds in the new scene.
Leitch is best known for his stunt work, but turned in an impressive directorial debut with the 2014 Keanu Reeves action film, which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski.
Miller, who directed the first “Deadpool,” left the project over creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds. As TheWrap reported exclusively, Miller and Reynolds differed over the tone of the film.
As previously reported, “Logan” is set in 2024 and follows an older, more weary Wolverine, who now has to take care of a sick Professor X with the help of another mutant, Caliban. Mutant births are in decline for unknown reasons, but Logan and the Professor come across a young girl named Laura who has powers similar to Wolverine’s.
“Logan” also stars Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier/Professor X, Boyd Holbrook as Donald Pierce, Stephen Merchant as Caliban and Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney, with Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eriq La Salle and Elise Neal.
“Logan” will be released on March 3, 2017.

Yeah sounds like a post credit scene.
Would make no sense for him to appear in the movie otherwise.
I could see Logan and him having a snarky conversation or Deadpool showing up to sarcastically tease his movie.

I wonder if it will be any sort of reference to a certain comic storyline involving those two. Even though Jackman has stated this is his last.

I don't know this sounds pretty shoehorned in to me. The trailer makes it seem like Deadpool wouldn't really fit in and also while I'd like to see him and Wolvie together it's kind of late doing it now considering this is the last time we'll be seeing Jackman as Wolverine.

Reynolds is saying via Twitter it isn't true. I don't know if I believe him.

Disappointed in the lack of rap music in this trailer.

Going along with the timeline of the Cuban Missile Crisis 55 years ago and Erik's experiences at Auschwitz some 80 years ago, the age would be about right for 2017.
It's weird to see these characters in their 7th (or 9th) movie suddenly discover blood and the F-word. It feels a little incongruous. And it looks like this is one X-Men movie that I won't be taking my 10 year old boy to.
I do like the integration of the X-Men comics though.

I am still dumbfounded that this is the direction FOX went with Wolverine.
An R rated ultraviolent intimate character driven story. Kudos for going this route. Truly.
