I actually see something like this doing very well as a way to blend Blu-Rays with video games. I remember having a DVD of Dragon's Lair where you used your remote as the controller. I think movie done in this style, especially horror and action, would prove pretty effective. However, they would need to shoot lots of different takes and not just one or two endings.
Also, the home market is the only way I see this working, as trying to get an audience of people who don't know each other to work together might prove difficult.

Yeah, Dragon's Lair is on the PS3 (and everything else) as an actual game with trophy support, along with Space Ace and Dragon's Lair 2.
Space Ace is my favorite of the three, since it moves fast and has dialogue to keep the story going. Also those games are hard as fuck with no moves guide, especially if you don't understand the audio or visual cues. I remember the first and ONLY time I played the actual Dragon's Lair machine, I got my ass kicked (for the price of 50 cents) on the basic first screen where he's trying to cross from one side of the room to the other. This was in the mid 90's where miraculously, the arcade stood the test of time and was in a random hotel. But the game itself, the attract mode with the announcer, that all was very cool.
Now, on the topic of interactive movies, there was Mr. Payback from 1995, that the audience would use remotes to vote on what the protagonist would do. Ebert hated it:
