re: The One and Only Bruce Willis Thread

I actually reviewed Midnight in the Switchgrass. It's not an unwatchable detective thriller but Willis isn't really a lead in the story. He shows up, does his thing in a few scenes, and doesn't attempt to stand out in his limited role.

I wonder at what point they’ll just start pulling a Tig Notaro in Army of the Dead and just record Willis against a green screen in his basement and then digitally insert him into the movie with the other actors?

Director: “Just recite your lines to that tennis ball on a stick. It’s going to be Bruce Willis when we get to post.”

Maybe it’s for the best. I’m sure the tennis ball gives more effort on set than Bruce.

re: The One and Only Bruce Willis Thread

I was reading a few articles that Willis has early onset dementia and is basically working like crazy while he still can. If so, that adds an extra layer of sadness to this.

He has his own Razzie category

The Razzie Awards, the industry’s annual sarcastic celebration of the worst in film, announced the nominees for its 42nd awards show on Monday, and among the usual suspects was a new category specifically “honoring” the B-movie output of Bruce Willis. The new category, titled “Worst Performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 Movie,” includes the eight feature films that Willis made in 2021, not a single one of which will have a title familiar to anyone but the most inveterate action junkie. The films are as follows:

American Siege
Apex
Cosmic Sin
Deadlock
Fortress
Midnight in the Switchgrass
Out of Death
Survive the Game

Starring Bruce Willis (Pulp Fiction), this action cyber-thriller continues the adventure begun in The Fortress. Weeks after the deadly assault on Fortress Camp, Robert (Bruce Willis) makes a daring rescue to save Sasha, the widow of his old nemesis Balzary (Chad Michael Murray, “One Tree Hill”). But back in the camp’s command bunker, it appears Sasha may have devious plans of her own. As a new attack breaks out, Robert is confronted with a familiar face he thought he’d never see again…

re: The One and Only Bruce Willis Thread

I watched Death Wish (I watch movies that I have low expectations for while on the exercise bike) and it was just terrible.
This was a B-movie... it had a decent budget of 30mill and had some name actors in it - but Willis just slept-walked through the whole thing as if it was a B-movie.

In the last 32 movies he's been in in 10 years (where he plays a character - not being himself in a documentary, or himself in a cameo) only 1 film has a fresh tomato on RT (Motherless Brooklyn at 64%).
His average RT score across those 32 movies is under 14%. Brutal.

re: The One and Only Bruce Willis Thread

I rented A Day to Die the other day from Red Box using a free rental code from T-Mobile.

I'll keep my thoughts short. The 1st half of the movie was awful. It looked super cheap and the special effects and action looked cheap.

Then, in the final act or so, it turned into a somewhat decent heist thriller. Kevin Dillon was the star and Grillo was a supporting player. Willis was barely in it.

Leon played the villain and he was super annoying and obnoxious.

Willis has been cranking out so many movies lately. But, he gets top billing for less than 10 minutes of screentime. That's why he can crank out so many and 98-99% of them are shit.

Seagal hasn't worked in 3 years. But, even in his direct to video prime in the mid 2000s, he was always the lead and appeared throughout the movie.

APEX was not as atrocious as I was expecting. Neil McDonough was having a blast and the visual effects are decent. It's one of those Surviving the Game type of flicks set in the future.

Yeah, at the very least McDonough was having a good time.

But thanks to Red Letter Media pointing it out, does seem like Willis just reciting lines fed to him through an earpiece.

The people behind the razzie awards are probably starting to feel like a bunch of jerks.

Yeah..... I'm not even going to Seinfeld this situation here, but the Razzies should remove that category.

I know some might bat their eyes, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to honor him with a lifetime achievement Oscar.

I still think it's fine to keep the category. First of all its a rumour and and more importantly, the Razzies are innocent fun, nothing more than a roast. Giving him is own category is an honor, they don't give a category to Michael Madsen or Eric Roberts.

People diagnosed with dementia, probably ain't gonna be around for much longer. Really suck for him and his family if this was the last thing he was remembered for.

Speaking of Eric Roberts, I was looking up his information on IMDB the other day (after seeing him in The Righteous Gemstones) and that dude has 657 acting credits to his name!! Holy shit!

His first acting credit is in 1977 which averages to over 14 acting roles a year for 45 years!

Compare that to Bruce Willis’ 146.

For fuck’s sake, Eric!
