Nicolas Cage's stolen Action Comics #1 is being turned into a movie

So two Superman movies for 2013? This and Man of Steel? This might actually be the better of the two as well...
The theft (and eventual recovery) of Nicolas Cage's Superman comic book is going to be turned into a movie.
The Hollywood Reporter says Lionsgate has acquired the script Action No. 1 from Reno 911!'s Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant, who will also produce. The story follows a bunch of geeks who steal Cage's prized copy of Action Comics #1 featuring the introduction of Superman.
As THR recounts, "The theft of Cage's comic made real-world headlines in 2000. The issue was missing until 2011, when it was discovered among the contents of an abandoned storage locker. It sold for a record $2.1 million at auction in November. To comic-book fans, the story of the book's theft and its ultimate recovery is as thrilling as any tale of a stolen Monet or Degat."
Although the Nicolas Cage role was written with the real Cage in mind, he's not expected to appear. Jason Statham has been rumored for a role, but THR's sources claim he's not involved.

This sounds incredibly boring. What would it even be? Nick Cage running around his house wondering where the comic is then someone finding.
So who sold the comic? Nick Cage or the person that bought the auction?
Maybe they could work it into a Storage Wars movie where Berry, Dave, Daryl & Jarrod/Brandi are bidding on the auction. YUUUPP!!!

Jason Statham in a heist film about the theft of a comic book owned by Nicholas Cage? Is it April 1st already?

I guess after the amazing critical and financial success of Kevin Smith and Bruce Willis' stolen baseball card epic, Hollywood needs to attempt to recreate that magic.

Not sure, but I think I remember reading that Cage was paid over 1 million on an insurance claim after the theft. So once it was found, the insurance company probably owned it. If so, they made around 1 million on the find.

I wonder why Cage never bought it back from the insurance company? There are only nine copies in existence that have been CGC graded at 9.0 or above, so it couldn't be replaced easily.

Between this and the movie based on the kids breaking into Paris Hilton's house. Guess the next movie will be based on Kim Kardassian's fake wedding to rake in the $$$ & keep he name in the public eye.
