Yeah. It boggles my mind as to what that could be like.

Re: Has Tarantino become nothing more than a Parody of himself ?

I think when this thread was created, I would've probably not been in agreement but could have seen where the OP is coming from. I'll be honest and say I haven't seen Kill Bill Vol. 1 & 2 since both of their theatrical runs, not because I was underwhelmed but because to me it didn't have the replay value of his 90s films. Then, when Death Proof came out, I was just kind of over him. I really hated that movie (and loved Planet Terror to a degree, so go figure) and have no need to ever sit through that again.

Once Inglourious Basterds came out, I think he turned a leaf and totally re-invigorated himself. It was Tarantino but it felt like a different kind of Tarantino. I'd rank IB as one of my top-10 all-time films. Then Django was nothing short of a masterpiece and one of the best films of 2012, so to me he can pretty much do no wrong from this point. With all of the garbage that pollutes Hollywood these days, it's his movies that are the fresh air that breathes life in to an otherwise stale canvas.

Unfortunately, isn't Kill Bill, Vol. 3 his next film, though?

That would be disappointing. I want to see something a little more low-key like Reservoir Dogs.

I think that if Tarantino ever did a film that didn't have the N-word in it, it would become groundbreaking.

I don't recall the N-word being uttered in either of the KILL BILL films.

And KBV1 was indeed groundbreaking.

Death Proof? But maybe I'm forgetting if the word was used there.

Does it count for scripts? Because I don't recall it in From Dusk Till Dawn.

It was used in Death Proof once at least.

How was Kill Bill groundbreaking? It was a compilation of Tarantino's favorite grindhouse movies, stuff from the 60s and 70s.

Right! Didn't Kurt Russell say to Rose McGowan before she died, "How does it feel to be a n!gger?"

Re: Has Tarantino become nothing more than a Parody of himself ?

Tarantino obviously "borrows" from his favorite films, and certainly isn't a wholly original cinematic visionary, but his films are very well crafted and his love of cinema is evident in every frame he directs. He absolutely has an ear for cooly efficient, highly dramatic dialogue and knows how to write a screenplay.

I would rather watch any one of his pictures than suffer through any modern action film.

True

This is also true except that every character in his movies sounds like a Tarantino mouthpiece and that can sometimes be annoying.

Which is fine by me, since I never saw any of the films he "borrows" from. I was never into the exploitative film industry, although I did once own a copy of Coffy with Pam Grier (laff-riot!!)

To answer the OP:

No, he has not.

Well, as long as he continues to cast Christoph Waltz in his films, he will always be a relevant filmmaker.

Man, he was always a handsome devil!

Not all of it is exploitation films. Early Tarantino is more influenced by French New Wave & Film Noir.

Re: Has Tarantino become nothing more than a Parody of himself ?

He's a "parody" of himself if you put him side-by-side from what he looked like in 1995 and what he looks like now.

And what's his problem with Randy Quaid? The cat looks just like him, yet he's never cast his "brother" in one of his films.

That's fine, as I never really saw any of that stuff, neither.

Yeah, that was so low-key that my poor grandmother raced out of the room after a few minutes of this film. Boy, talk about a tough crowd.

You tell me. You obviously bumped this thread for a purpose. Was it to bash on QT in a passive aggressive manner?
