Re: 6 year olds banned after 6pm

When I went to Avengers I had a seat near the walkway, and a little girl around 3 or 4 spent the last half hour of the movie walking up and down the walkway. She was quiet but somehow I found her more distracting than the usual noisy chattering kid, maybe because my misery was only shared with the other 'edge sitters' and not the entire theater.

I had two 3 year olds behind me at Avengers that were whining to go home 15 minutes in. They would get shusshed by mom and told to eat their candy. This went on for oh, 10 minutes before mom and grandpa decide to "parent" as loudly as possible, telling the kids if they left that they are never going to the movies ever again and they were going immediately to bed upon getting home. None of them knew how to whisper. They did end up leaving.

Excellent parenting on display. Take two 3 year olds to a PG-13 movie and then berate and punish them because they were restless.

This was at a 7pm show. At that age my two went to bed around 7:30-8, which is right about the time these kids got restless. They had no business being at that showtime or that movie. Those kids were ready for bed.

Assholes.

At least they eventually left.

Re: 6 year olds banned after 6pm

I watched Brave today, all the kids mostly behaved, but I was at a Pixar movie in the afternoon, I knew what I was getting into. A couple kids couldn;t keep it down for a while, just had to block all that out.

But after that, I saw Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Theater was much less packed, I'm near the top. The third trailer hits, and a family of like 6 (3 of which are young kids, around 5 or so) comes up and sits behind me. I waited a second then got up and moved down far away from them. I knew it'd be bad news.

This times a billion... And I just realized when this thread was started and quoting a nine year old quote, but it still remains. Seniors are much worse in theaters then young kids and teenagers.

Yeah, when I go to see a kids movie, I totally forgive (and expect) kids being talkative and disruptive.

What I can't stand the most is when full grown proper adults have no manners in the theater. I went to see The Art of Rap, and the median age a the showing I went to had to be 35 years old. Yet, these two hags kept chitchatting throughout the movie. Not enough to ruin the movie for me, but enough to be disruptive. They were like hearing a mouse in your house. Not loud, but once you hear it you focus on it.

I'm not even a nazi when it comes to silence in the theater. I expect people to get up and go to the bathroom, or to ask their neighbor a question or two. It's when people come to the movies to seemingly talk. If you want to talk, go to the food court.

I wish we would get an alamo drafthouse style theater here in Baltimore.

Re: 6 year olds banned after 6pm

Sunday night I saw Grease. Two teenage girls to the far right of my aisle decided to recite the entire movie not just the songs but every fucking line! And two other women one row below me we're chatting during the songs. I would've moved but the theater was already packed. I did shushed them but that only worked for a few minutes.

That's awesome parenting right there. We have Brave and Madagascar 3 out and they pick the R-rated violent vampire slaying movie that will probably give them nightmares for years and screw them over on a future history test about the Civil War.
