Citizen Kane and Sunset Blvd. would be good choices, but there are just too many to list.
I do believe that it's a great thing that these movies didn't have sequels, as it would have probably diminshed the lore of the originals.
IMHO a better question would have been - Great Movies That You Wish Had a Sequel.

I usually believe that sequels are evil and should be avoided at all costs. However, I would love sequels to these movies (I'm hypocritical that way).
Mystery Men - Just the thought of Flaming Carrot in a movie makes me orgasmic.
Independance Day - One of the few blockbusters where a sequel makes sense. Ten years later, and the aliens send in a bigger fleet for revenge. Or maybe the first fleet was sent to clear the way for a colonization fleet to follow.
Ghostbusters - but only if they got all the original stars.
Roger Rabbit - In the first movie, in the Maroon Cartoon office, there's a poster on the wall for the cartoon "Herman's Shermans". I'd love to see the rumored WWII Roger Rabbit movie, Toon Platoon. But only if they are able to get Disney and Warner Bros cartoons together again.

I've always held out for a "Dazed and Confused" sequel. It would be a HUGE risk, as these sorts of movies usually don't do so well, doing the sequel thing 10+ years later(Texasville, the Two Jakes, More American Graffiti), but I had such a blast with the characters, I'd love to see a high school reunion set in 1987 or so, and play with the construct of that time, and see where everyone landed. The only thing that could lend faith in such a project is Richard Linklater's involvment.
