I feel exactly the same way. I can live with my dvd until this gets a wider release or drops in price. If it doesn't, no big deal.

Mysterious Island is now available to pre-order at the Screen Archives site for a November 8 release. Someone may decide this deserves a new thread, but I figured I would post the information in this one since the title has been mentioned here. I placed an order, and it came to $39.30 shipped.

Good bump, but wow. I've gotten so used to every BD dropping below $10 that I would have a hard time justifying $40 for the original unaltered Star Wars trilogy, let alone a single film.

Are you kidding ? I'd pay 100 dollars for the true versions of Star Wars. Even if it had the exact same features as the dvd set from a few years ago.

Yes. There are a few titles I'd definitely pay a premium to get. The unaltered OG Star Wars Trilogy is one of them.

Believe me, the idea of overpaying for Fright Night with next to no special features doesn't make me happy, but I love the film, so I'll end up buying it, I just won't be happy about the circumstances.

That's the thing, I already have the true versions, on VHS and DVD. HD would be great, but $10 per film is my limit for an A/V upgrade. Until then, I'll enjoy the unaltered version in SD.

No market for a cult vampire film? But there is one for half the '90s catalog shit Sony does bother putting out?

Ok then...

Well, they put out a great blu-ray for "Night Of The Creeps".

I guess Sony has no use for money then. I'm sure they would sell a couple of copies more of Fright Night on BD than some of their worst selling and poorly chosen titles.

The remake wasn't better. The reason WHY the original, and all the original films that are being remade lately, are better is because they were made when they were, before CGI took over and made every movie look like a slick, soulless cartoon. Back then, movies LOOKED like movies and felt more realistic. Filmmakers actually did something back then. There was an effort. Now, someone works on a computer. The magic is mostly gone. Back then, you wondered how the hell somebody did something in a movie. Now, it's really no question. You just think 'CGI'. It's sad, really. Thank god the classics like Fright Night and others of the time were made before the dawn of CGI.

Hard to say. They just licensed a bunch of titles to Image. None of the majors seem interested in back-catalogue since the bottom fell out of the DVD market. This is probably the best thing that they could have done for the title, since it probably would have been a bare-bones or non-existant release otherwise.

Maybe the Sony rep was mistranslated from Japan. Maybe they thought it was Friday Night Lights.

Ok, probably not. They're just retards.

If The Love Guru can get a decent release then Fright Night should have.

So, you're wishing that Sony had licensed it to Paramount?

Any mention when it will be up for pre-order?

Read on another site that it will be up on November 14. I'm so torn in getting it out of fear of a wide release afterwards.

Me too. If I buy it and a better or cheaper version comes out in a few years, I am going to be kicking myself. If I don't buy it and that's the last we see of Fright Night on blu, i am going to be kicking myself.

And I think in the end, that's why I'm going to buy it. I have the HD presentation recorded on my DVR but this is a favorite from my younger days, Plus their choice to use the original poster art was a good one. The cover looks amazing.

Love the movie, great Halloween movie.

It was on one of the "Over the Air" HD channels yesterday, watched the last 15 min of the movie. What fun!

Will buy it next year on BR - I hope it will come way down in price.

As they're only pressing 3,000 copies, I wouldn't count on its long-term availability.
