Red -- 1/25/11
Summit Entertainment has announced Red for Blu-ray release on January 25, 2011. Unlike recent day-and-date releases from this studio, this one will come out on a single-sided BD, not a "flipper." This action comedy, based on a comic-book series about a retired CIA agent, stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren.
Special features include:
Audio commentary with retired CIA field officer Robert Baer
Deleted and extended scenes
Access: RED - Activate a variety of "scene-specific" features including interviews with cast members, real-life CIA expert commentary, animated documentary shorts on controversial CIA operations and more
************************************************
Funny, the trailers for this did nothing for me, but then I saw the film and I really enjoyed it. Glad to see it's not a flipper, otherwise I might've passed. The commentary track could be interesting.

Bestbuy.com has the standard version for $17.99. Their exclusive version is supposed to be a combo pack, but with this being Summit, it could be a flipper disc.

It looks like best buy's exclusive combo pack will be a flipper. It uses the same band at the top as Twilight: Eclipse

Then I remembered the Best Buy combo deal likely being a flipper so I just went for the SE.
I wonder if the rental version of the Blu-ray will also be DD only.

Forgive me if it sounds like I've been paying little attention, but are ALL the SE editions flippers? So just the non-SE is a single-side disc?

Well the the "regular" Special Edition Blu-ray is not a flipper, but it doesn't include a DVD. Best Buy has a double-sided Blu-ray/DVD that is essentially the special edition Blu-ray on one side and the DVD on the other.

Didn't exactly make this all that easy, now did they?

It's a lot less silly than Shoot 'em up or Crank, but not particularly realistic. It felt more like a lost Oceans (11) movie crossed with Whole Nine Yards. I really enjoyed it.
