We'll see,

I've heard of nothing but problems with the Shaw films, to the point that it shocked me some were coming out so soon. They have some great extras lined up I know as they've had the HKL team doing interviews for the past year.

I noticed the spine numbers on Amazon.com's photos aswell. I guess we are to assume that the first Infernal Affairs isn't apart of the DD collection. If so they I'll just by Infernal Affairs 2 & 3 seperately.

I presume the lack of reviews/interest in the Dragon Dynasty Infernal Affairs box set indicates a lack of effort?

Is this the first non-SE Dragon Dynasty release?

Saw the box today. 2 & 3 are part of the Dynasty Line #'s 6 & 7. Internal Affairs 1 was just the original Miramax release tossed in. Complete with original artwork, that doesn't match 2 & 3 or the Dynasty Line.

I saw it for $30 at Walmart, which wasn't bad compared to Best Buy charging $17 for 2 & 3 each.

I want to know about it too. Really, I guess all that I am hoping is that it has a cover done up to match IA 2 & 3. I mean, I doubt they would stick the existing DVD in the box, since that's Miramax (I think) and the Weinsteins severed ties but clearly retained the rights. If it's the same cover, clearly some Photoshop is in order...

EDIT: Lame.

Sorry I missed the question,

I confirmed last week on the Asiandvdguide forum that it IS indeed the EXACT same release, cover and all. It looks VERY lame. It's seriously looks bad in the box setting on your shelf. Let alone the dvd has those crappy subs. I'm just taking the UK dvd with commentary, and putting it in the box instead.

Serously?
Infernal Affairs 1 is just the same Miramax release with the crappy cover?

I may just pass on the box set and get parts 2 and 3 then. I already own the HK 2-disc Megastar release, so it's no big loss.

Is it really true that the miramax dvd litterally has some subtitled parts that are made up, and not what they are really saying?

I have the Infernal Trilogy 2 disc set from Media Asia. The only thing I don't like about the new cut is that throughout various points of the movie it'll say "10 days before __________ death" Which is fine if your fan of the movies, but not if this is the version that is your blind buy.

From what I have read, the Miramax disc does indeed have poor subs, not to mention a cover that doesn't match the DD releases. Also, the DD releases are all Dolby 5.1, with no DTS option.

I just ordered all three titles individually from the original HK Mega Star line from CDWow! They're only $10.00 each, shipped.

FWIW, I got an education from reading (the later pages of) this thread: Infernal Affairs Trilogy Boxset

Huh? First off, the movie is named Infernal Affairs, not Internal Affairs. And why would you skip the first part of an intricately plotted trilogy, and to many, the best of the three?

Am I reading
it appears that only 2 and 3 are part of the series
wrong? Why would you think that Infernal Affairs is not part of the Infernal Affairs trilogy?

I have'nt followed the entire thread and just saw some questions about messed up subtitles and stuff. And I'm wondering if these releases have English dub options as well? If so,the subtitles would be subtitling that track and not the actual original language track.

I've noticed that done on a few dvds so far, like Lions Gates release of High Tension and Ju-On. Subtitles would appear onscreen for dialogue when no one was speaking. And then when I switched over to the English dub to test it out,the additional subtitled words were spoken in the dubbed mix.

I guess studios do this as a cheap way out of not paying for two different subtitle tracks(one for the original language and one for the dub). So they just go with the dub only to translate.

If this is not the case and they are just mistranslating everything that is being said. That's another thing entirely.

As you point out, that has happened before, and it has even happened on a past Miramax release, the DVD of Avalon. However, in this post on a different thread it's pointed out that on the Miramax DVD of Infernal Affairs the subtitle track and dub actually differ, with the claim that the dub is actually more accurate.

Now, it's possible that the Closed Captions, if the disc has them, may follow the dub, but I haven't seen anyone review that yet.

The only two Dragon Dynasty releases I have so far are Police Story 1 & 2 and I can tell you that the English dub doesn't match the English subtitles on those releases. So, maybe all the DD titles are that way.

This was taken from HK Film News as they posted the 2007 Release Calendar for Dragon Dynasty. They don't indicate where they got the information from since the link provided does not work for me. I'm hoping that is accurate as there are some titles that I'm interested in.

I've had that old Hard Boiled/Killer two pack for years. I guess I could upgrade for this DD version if need be. I'm absolutely LOVING this line of DVDs.
