That's odd. It works for me (just tested it). Anyway, the gist of it is that after someone requested that Bandai release an artbox for the series, a rep from Bandai (Jerry Chu) left a message saying (exact quote) "Keep a close watch on the last volume of Gits:SAC". There are no other details, and I have no idea if you have to buy the SE version of Vol. 7 to get the artbox or not.

The next volume will contian some of the weakest episodes of the entire series. The last two sets will make up for it though. Except for the final episode, which really can not live up to all the story build up.

I stopped watching the show half way through the second season though. It wasn't bad or anything, and in fact, there were some really cool bits, but it just became mediocre in general. A shame.

Updates about Vol. 7 from Bandai:

"The Limited Edition of v.7 Gits:SAC will contain both DD5.1, DTS, 'Laughing Man' T-shirt, and a nice shiny tin collector's case to hold v.1-7"

Shiny tin == purchased!

Has anyone gotten vol 5 yet? I was a little disapointed with the episodes on vol 4. Only the episode with Tachikomas stock out. Can wait to get the box still!
But any way is the episodes on vol 5 better?

I liked the episodes on V4, though yes V5 has some good ones (though the Tachikomas are gone ... for now!). Three standalone and one complex episode, right at the end. John Sinnott did a good review of V5...

V4 and V5 are the weakest sets. Like I said in my post above. But the last two will have some great episodes.

I noticed the SE of V6 is fairly high in price. What's the extra with it? Anyone know? V7's is high as well, but the posts above say it's because of a metal case and a t-shirt.

...and has anyone spotted or managed to confirm the looks and size of the V7 box / tin? ive been looking around for it to show up, cos i am thinking my individual dvd size cases might not be whats intended to go in this : perhaps more the limited edition bigger boxes (i think japans cases for the show are like that)... thanks.

The LE versions come in a standard-sized keepcase with a little flipper thing inside to hold the second disc. The bigger box you're referring to is just a thin cardboard slipcase that holds any extras (CD, T-shirt) that come with it. So, the box will undoubtedly hold 7 standard keepcases, which works for both the standard and LE versions of the series.

I haven't seen any pics, but I'm dying to get a look at it...

Wow, that looks really nice. Although it also looks like that panel comes off and the DVDs lie in it face up. So to get out volume 1, you'll have to remove volumes 2-7 first (or remove 1-6 to get to 7, I suppose). Ah well, still looks nice.

Don't forget the exchange program for Vol. 1 DTS + OST and Vol. 2 DD + DTS discs if you haven't sent in yours. I finally received my replacement a couple of weeks ago.

The spacing out of the releases of this series is KILLING me. By the time they start releasing second gig, I'll be 90 years old...

Re: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex...

Bumping this thread because it seems to be the most appropriate place to ask...

What is the best way to get the entire series in HD with English subs? I see that there are Japanese sets available on yesasia, but none of them seem to have English subtitles, and some may have English dubs, but I'm not interested in that.

Thanks!

edit: crap... didn't see that this was in the DVD forum.

You should probably ask WTK directly or post here:

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...uary-14-a.html

I don't think what you want is available yet.

Re: Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone complex...

Thanks Regulus and sandman007. I think you're right that what I want is not available. I have all of the special edition DVDs that came out in North America, but was hoping to upgrade to HD finally. I'd buy the Japanese sets if they had English subs, even at their ridiculous prices... but I guess I'll have to keep waiting.
