Shannon is correct. All the reputable tech magazines point out that a curved screen is merely a gimmick to draw attention to 4K, and to distinguish itself rather disingenuously. For 8K, we'll have screens curved the opposite way.

I didn't, and just because some of you don't appreciate 3D at home doesn't mean it's not an enjoyable enhancement to many Blu-ray releases. I can't imagine having to watching Avatar, Hugo or Life of Pi in 2D.

It's not really a question of whether the 3D feature was "free" on the TV, but whether Shannon paid more for the TV model than otherwise. If there were other features on the TV that Shannon wanted, and there wasn't a cheaper non-3D model that had those same features, then the 3D wasn't an "extra" cost since it was included in the desired model TV.

There wasn't a discernible price difference is what I was trying to say.
Why all the hate for TV 3D? It's far better on a calibrated home set than it is in the theater, and don't you guys want to watch movies the way the director intended?

I personally like the 3D. My only regret is not getting a bigger set. Next one will be 70" minimum...

I can't imagine ever having to watch Avatar a second time.

I haven't been impressed with any of the curved screens I've seen. They just don't look right.
Saw my first OLED set at Sam's the other day. That fucker was thin; it was like the windshield of a car. Felt like it was about 5mm thick.
I was less impressed with the picture, though. From what I saw the black levels looked great, and the colors were vibrant, but the picture itself looked blurry and smeared. I don't know what the source of the picture was, but it looked like VHS hooked up through the composite input.
Maybe it was just the set-up at that particular store, but I don't think they'll sell many of these for $4000.

I saw my first OLED the other day and it blew every regular LED 4K set away. Sucks that right now we can't get a 4K OLED screen.
Josh, I thought the thinness of the 55' LG OLED was amazing but completely negated when you look at the back of the TV. The one I checked out in Best Buy started out like a windshield but had a section in the back for the power cord that was over an inch thick! It would actually stick out much further on my wall mount than the 2 year old LG I have now.
