I'm considering getting a DVD Player but I'd like to know the reputations of other companies. I've heard that Sony has the best quality products. I've also heard that Toshiba has the "most bang for the buck." How about the other companies? I haven't heard much about them.

Any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

There's lots of insight here:
www.audioreview.com

Talking about Sony quality in general is a big can of worms. IMHO, their dvd players are on par with Panasonic and Toshiba, but not better.

Generalizations, generally, don't work.

You should tell us what you're looking for in a dvd player (on-board decoder or not) and how much you're willing to $pend.

I think the best dvd player deal in the world right now is the Toshiba 1200 at www.accompany.com for $142 (after the 25% coupon that I'm sure you can find if you search).

I would suggest going to the Hometheater Forum and read what they have to say.The Sony`s are much better at motion artifacts than Toshiba ect.But they also have a softer image on enhanced DVD`s.If you have a widescreen set then that means nothing.Choose your poison, motion atifacts or a softer image on enhanced DVD`s.Nuff said.

Brilion: Thanks! That's the kind of info I'm looking for.
