You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

I actually find, with "regular people", that it has a huge effect on sound quality. They attempt to take their little system and crank it up to fill the room like a commercial movie theater (or mine). And that's when the crackling starts. Not to mention the boominess. And fading dialog.

Good point...as always....

I was trying to say that having a small room does not mean you should get a crappy system. That quality is quality regardless of the size.

And you are right, many of folks do not realize the limits of their system. Even a "nice" system overtaxed can start to sound bad.

I finally got this system! I'll probably be setting it up tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what I think. If it sucks I'll be honest.

OK, I got everything setup last night and have been testing it alot. Honestly, I think it sounds pretty damn good. The TV sounds GREAT with movies that have surround sound. My playstation sounds AMAZING. I can actually hear footsteps/gunshots IN THE DIRECTION of the people I'm playing against. Whn I get my own place, I'll def be getting a receiver and speakers, but for now, I'm very happy with htis!!!!!!!!!!

PROS
- Very good sound
- Nice looking system
- 3 HDMI in and only 1 needed to go from the receiver to the TV

CONS
- Confusing remote
- no on-screen menu

Kudos to you, OP! Unless you're willing to invest lot more money and time, $250 HTIB is more than adequate for enjoying movies in surround sound.
