Around here most of the titles are now $5 except the ones they've had forever. No big deal considering Walmart has basically the same stuff for the same price. Stopped in several days ago, saw Blow for $5, it's been $5 at Walmart for several years. So what would possess me to pay the same price for it at Big Lots?

Just wanted to let those who live in Niles, IL area and surroundings suburbs and the city of Chicago know the new and bigger Big Lots location will be opening up this Friday morning and a big sale is taking place this weekend at that specific location where the old Sports Authority used to reside.
Again, it's in the same plaza but the new store is just a few doors down as they're finally getting out of their smaller location and heading to much bigger grounds within that shopping plaza on Harlem and Dempster.

I actually checked the DVD/BR selection a few days ago, mostly the BRs.
Here are a few that stood out:
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - BR $5
Hang 'Em High - BR $5
Patton - Digibook BR $5
Carol Lombard Glamor Collection - DVD $8 (They've had this one before - long ago)
Warner Home Video Western Classics Collection (Escape from Fort Bravo (1954), Many Rivers To Cross (1955), Cimarron (1960 Remake), The Law and Jake Wade (1958), Saddle The Wind (1959), and The Stalking Moon (1958)) - DVD $8
James Stewart: Screen Legend Collection (Shenandoah, The Glenn Miller Story, Thunder Bay, You Gotta Stay Happy, and Next Time, We Love) - DVD $8
I picked up VTTBOTS and Hang 'Em High using a $5 off $20 coupon making them $4 each.

I'll try to stop by one tomorrow. I'll be close to at least one of the 2 local BL's. Though I mostly buy food their these days!

The last time I was in the store here they still had a few copies of the "Warner Home Video Western Classics Collection." I plan to snag one later today... along with some groceries.

I found a great Warner 3 DVD set with all 3 versions (1931, 1936, 1941) of THE MALTESE FALCON plus bonus stuff for $5 minus 20%.

Paid ten bucks some years back from Target.

I hit the new superstore yesterday. More br's then I'd seen in awhile ($5), but nothing that interested me.
The 2 best deals (which I didn't need) @ $6.40 with the discount:
Will Rogers box #1
a TCM Barbara Stanwyck 4 film set

A couple of things I picked up:
Empire Falls - $3
Samuel Goldwyn 6 Film Collection Vol 2 - $8 - Stella Dallas (1937)/Dead End (1937)/The Westerner (1940)/ They Got Me Covered (1943)/The Princess and the Pirate (1944)/The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (1947)
Also saw a couple of those Fox Quad Sets for $8 each - one was Anna Karenina/A Farewell to Arms/Les Miserables/The Sun Also Rises, another was The Agony and the Ecstasy/The Bible...In the Beginning/Demetrius and the Gladiators/The Rose

I'm guessing some stores got picked over by retailers, though $6.40 isn't that great of a wholesale for either the TCM or Fox 4 film sets.

Re: Big Lots Part 11 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)
I am very disappointed with the Big Lots in my area. My microwave oven died after ten years of use thanks to running it empty for a few minutes. It seems Big Lots doesn't carry microwave ovens anymore. Sure they have toaster ovens and convection ovens but no mundane microwave ovens. The only thing I enjoy going in for are the heavily discounted food staples nearing expiration. The DVD selection has sucked for the whole year and with a Dollar Tree next to it, the occasional $1.00 DVDs that come in periodically are far better than paying $3.00 or $5.00 for a DVD movie from Big Lots.

Wal Mart isn't any better. They had a brand new stainless steel Hamilton Beach .7 cu.ft. sized one advertised in their weekly circular for $39 but had no such item ever stocked. They offered to sell me the colored one which was listed at $45, but only had one up front in customer service at a reduced price of $35. The box was partially factory sealed. I asked if it was a brand new factory sealed one and they honestly said it was just returned. In other words, if I didn't ask questions, I would have purchased someone else's troubles.

I do agree (and am thankful for the forum - when it isn't taking me hostage with redirects). I was poking fun at how off topic things were for a few posts. Hopefully no one thought of it as derogatory.

Those ad redirects are ridiculous! Maybe it's good to have some other topics in here, spice things up. Hey, does Big Lots have good prices on oregano?

And my wife likes the brand of crystalized ginger they carry. I'm excited any time I find Popcorn Indiana with Pink Himalayan Sea Salt. We used quite a many coupons and promotions stocking up on those items...

Thanks, I'll check that out. If Big Lots would have a large selection of DVD's especially TV boxed sets, or any electronics like they use to have instead of accessories, maybe we all could be discussing bargain DVDs and electronics instead of everything else under the sun.
