Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Tonight I picked up two blu-rays:

An Empress and the Warriors $5
Revolutionary Road (priced $7, rang up $2.10)

I also saw The New Adventures of Old Christine season 1 for $5. So am I correct in thinking that anything with a sticker price of over $5 should be ringing up for less? I've been tempted to grab titles that I think are on sale, but I don't want get to the register and find out I'm wrong.

No. Some stores are discounting the old stock. The newer titles are regular price.

Right, but other than the $8 Disney blu-rays, it seems like everything else over $5 is old stock. And is it really only some stores that are discounting old stock?

I was told the discounts have to do with color coded price stickers. I bought two old stock titles and because they didn't have black stickers on them they weren't discounted.

Nothing new at the Niles, IL store, just in case anyone was considering a trip over.

From what I've seen here, each store is doing it differently, depending on how they interpreted the instructions from corp.

I've only seen 1 official sign (as opposed to made on Word locally); that sign seemed to indicate that every dvd with certain colored stickers was supposed to be on clearance and at what discount. Other stores seemed to feel that they got to pick what titles were included; also at one store I put around 10 dvd's back when they refused to honor the posted clearance pricing.

It also appears that the clearance prices are programmed into the computer at the store level; NOT at corp.

This has been my experience as well. Every store is handling the sale differently. An item on sale at one location may not even be on sale at a second store.

Glen, no surprise there as that store is a dump and they never carry anything worth of value anymore, DVD or Blu-rays.

Nothing at Pearl (WA) this week. Looks like they've already sold through about 1/2 of last week's mediocre batch, & the clearance sign is down.

that's all I can remember right now. Most of these are long gone. You might find a RtWM, but I doubt you'll find any of the others, but who knows. I remember some stores were getting some DVDs a while back, but my store never seemed to get them. SIX MONTHS later, they showed up. I think the stock got buried in the back. So as always, YMMV.

I got a 5 off 20 last week and used it to buy a lot of clearance stuff. It's hard to resist blind buys at .46 to 1.15 per DVD.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

At the Kennett Square location I spent about 30 mins going through the stock when I saw the sign with the color codes. Dark Blue was 75% off, some other colors were 50%, 30% off etc. After gathering my items (mostly blue), I was told the blue wasn't part of the sale, only dark blue lol. They were apologetic about it, and actually priced adjusted two discs because of the misleading signage. I wasn't that heartbroken because most were impulse buys because of the sale, but I wish I had that 30 mins back.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

*Nothing* is marked "on sale" here... at least they finally got some of the new stuff that's been mentioned. I picked up ($3 each):

Paris When is Sizzles
Enter the Dragon
The Butterfly Effect Collection (both films on one disc)
V: The Complete First Season ($5)

Actually all were trades for some dups I'd gotten... or rather dups that were created after the BL purchases when I'd purchased some multi-film packs which included titles I'd previously purchased at BL. Fortunately I'd not opened them so exchanges were painless.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

At the Cherry Hill, NJ store:

$3 DVDs:
The Maltese Falcon (2010 cover)
Fort Apache
Quo Vadis
Gilda
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Frozen River
The Hudsucker Proxy
Selena
Dirty Harry (two disc SE)
Last Man Standing
The Devil at 4 O'Clock
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
The Brothers Warner
IMAX Hubble
Here Comes Mr. Jordan
The Legend of Zorro
Addams Family Values
Grease 2
Vacancy 2: The First Cut
Pale Rider
A Night at the Roxbury

$5 Blus:
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (extended, no-extras edition. One copy.)
Elizabeth: The Golden Age
Jonah Hex

Off-topic, but the Clementon NJ and Bristol PA stores, where I got some nice titles back in the day, were permanently shuttered at some point in the past few months when I wasn't paying attention. Sic transit gloria mundi, I guess.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Bridgeport had a ton of stuff, but it was all either stuff they've had over & over again, mediocre, or both. I was also told this was all from last week; so they're not selling much.

They also had a ton of titles from an animated series I've never heard of that I think was called "Pet Alien".

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I used my $5 off coupon to pick up:

$3 DVDs:
Straw Dogs (remake)
Three O'Clock High

$5 blu-rays:
Seven Swords
The Debt

$6.88 blu-rays:
It's Complicated

The dvds and It's Complicated rang up 50% off, so my total after the coupon was $12.

Almost nothing at Pearl Street. A few titles with Orange tags I had never seen or heard of before.

Spotted a few $5 BluRay's today at the Clifton NJ store I hadn't seen before:
Beginners (w/ Ewan McGregor & Christopher Plummer)
Hangover II (steel book)
There were only one of each - I grabbed Beginners.

I've been getting a 5 off 15 every couple of weeks. Just got another. I stop there every couple of days and spend maybe a dollar or two on their clearance food.
