Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I have gotten 3 $5 off $20 coupons since August I think, but I don't really get movies there these days. I mostly buy stuff like snacks, drinks and bathroom related stuff - I've only bought one DVD there in the past couple of years actually.

This is off topic a bit, anyone ever have to return a half used food item to BL before? I grabbed a Dr. Pepper 6-Pack the other day. I took one to work and when I took a drink it tasted really shitty and flat. I looked at the side of the bottle and it actually expired back in September. Big Lots has some off the wall food items (Ketchup flavored chips, Raspberry Creme Oreos), but it's always still okay to eat. I can get my money back for expired food I just bought right?

Yes, that should be no problem. Just bring the unused portion with the receipt or if you don't have that, they should be able to look up your purchase from your loyalty info.

I found C.B. Demille's THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (1956 remake) for only $5.

I always check the expiration dates on food or vitamins found at Big Lots. Tons of their stuff is always near expiration.

Picked up the re-release of "The 3 Worlds Of Gulliver", three dollars. A buck a world, maybe this time out he'll voyage to Whore Island. But with his luck they'll all be tiny and not Hayden Panettiere tiny.

I usually check the dates, I just wasn't paying attention because I had a cart full of stuff and I just grabbed the sodas with my free hand on the way to the register. I'll definitely pay better attention in the future though.

Yes and not sure. I bought my copy from Europe to get the extras, and hadn't realized this was yet another Sony blunder. Likely full screen, but will double check.

That is the fun about bargain shopping. Most BL stores have a special section of near expiration items which they further discount 50%. When it comes 2 to 3 days before the expiration date they further reduce the item. I've purchased perfectly good cookies that sold for $2.50 reduced to $1.25 and then to $.25. However, they will pull the item once it has expired.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I hit a couple of Big Lots over the weekend looking for Roger & Me. No Luck. I did see Assassins (Stallone), Cobra (Stallone again) and a bunch of $1.50 DVDs in Christmas-style ornament packaging. I ended up getting the last "Anamorphic Widescreen" copy of 3 Worlds of Gulliver. All the other copies said "Formatted to fit your screen." Turns out the copy I picked up was formatted as well! Bastards! I may return it and pick up Cobra.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Store in Massachusetts aren't open tomorrow, so their Thanksgiving sale was today. I almost missed the Disney blu-rays as they were right next to the register. I almost bought the 3 disc Prince of Persia, but decided against it. They did have a new waterfall display with a bunch of $5 DVDs and blu-rays. At first, I wasn't sure if the blu-rays would ring up as buy 1 get on 50% off, but I noticed that the DVDs and blu-rays shared the same tags, so I figured it was fine. They actually ring up as $3.75 each after the discount.

I picked up four $5 blu-rays:
Zack and Miri (Make a Porno)
Battle of the Warriors (Dragon Dynasty)
Do the Right Thing
The Adjustment Bureau (debated between this and Johnny English Reborn)

I also saw:
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never - Director's Fan Cut (Ultimate Collector's Edition) (dvd) $5
Thomas & Friends: Best Tales on the Tracks (6-Disc Set) $8

EDIT: Oh, they also changed the wire rack around. One side was those $1.50 ornament packing DVDs and on the other sides they moved the shelves around so that each side had an additional shelf. This makes the lower shelves harder to look through as there's very little space between the shelf and the DVDs under it.

I won't post non-DVD stuff in here after this, but I returned those sodas to the store today. I wanted to just switch them out with a non-expired pack, but much to my surprise their entire assortment of Dr. Pepper and Coke 6-packs all expired in September or October. The cashier seemed disgusted that they were selling expired stuff and told me she'd "have the manager do something for me", which ended up just being him apologizing and refunding me.

Four copies, fool screen only. Sorry. But I shall keep my eyes open from now on...just like I check every copy of Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown" (but not at BL).

The local store put out a little more stock:

The Avengers (1998) $3
The Wild Bunch (single disk, keep case) $3
Shane $3
Sabrina (Centennial Collection, cut out) $3
Domestic Disturbance $5
The Davinci Code 2-disk (full screen) $5
and more copies of Sweeney Todd 2-disk and Hail the Conquering Hero

Nothing new at Pearl tonight, & they've either already sold through the Disney's or pulled them until tomorrow.

Just got the 5/20 or 15/60 coupon. So those that didn't get it before, check your emails.

Visited two stores last night, on the way home from my parents' house. Nothing earth-shattering to report, but I did finally grab a $3 copy of Scooby Doo on Zombie Island.

On Thursday, the $8 Disney Blue Rays arrived, but just one tiny box with very few titles. Some were combo Blue Ray/DVD packs. No classics...just things like TOY STORY.

Picked up The Wild Bunch for $3 and The Ten Commandments (1956) for $5. Saw a ton of Hallmark and ABC family holiday films for $3 and $5 for multi-features. Heads up: spend $50 either today or tomorrow and receive a $10 coupon good for the first of December.

Stopped by my local store tonight. Came home empty-handed as far as DVDs/BDs go. 1 BD in the entire display was a copy of Fred Claus for $5.

No coupons still. Hit Pearl. Diney's were back out. 1 copy left of Toy Story, otherwise garbage titles imo. Was told there was a new natch of $3's titles that largely sold through yesterday. Was told they were weak titles.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I stopped by a different big lots than normal today while waiting for my glasses to be ready. They had TONS of blu rays. I was shocked. None of the Disney ones, but they had a huge selection of $5 blu rays. I only picked up 2

United 93 BD/DVD/UV combo
