Well, ordered the Rock Hudson/Doris Day Comedy Collection $5 + after discount, and got it 6-2. Pretty quick!

I clicked through on an email I got from them advertising the Summer Savings sale, it went to a page listing 1098 pages (@ 48/page) with no way to sort by genre or type (DVD vs. Blu-Ray vs. CD vs. whatever). Do they honestly think my life is boring enough that I have (or want to invest) the time looking through 1098 pages of miscellaneous stuff? Fuck that. 25% off Deep Discount's inflated prices isn't enough for me to invest that kind of time. -kd5-

It took a long time to build my wish list, but about half was eligible and then I had to use self-control.

WHAT THE F**K DEEP DISCOUNT? All 8 items in my wish list went up in price. Before the sale started they were the same. And by the looks of it they went up about 25%. To hell with Deep Discount. I keep trying to be on their side but I cannot anymore. I'm done!

Have you ever tried to go through one of Amazon's "big" sales. You get directed to 1,000 pages or more of titles there a lot of times as well. I'm doing things the old fashioned way, looking up titles I want and deciding whether the price is a good price or not.

There's still plenty of items you can get a good price with them. Not as many as there used to be but that's more a function of the rest of the market catching up with them (and the fact that I've already got many of the catalogue titles I really want). I'll probably wind up with 8-10 titles this time.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

Well, long gone are the days where I'd place 5 orders over the course of the sale and blow a grand before the whole thing was over...

But I did see this little gem:
GREEN HORNET ORIGINAL SERIES COLLE $9.84

which has both serials - GH and GH Strikes Again. Over 9 hours of serial goodness plus 2 radio shows for under ten bucks. And it is showing as "in stock".

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

^Yep. I ordered that one along with "The Phantom" and "Buck Rogers" serials for $32.84. I'm very pleased with that! Especially the "Green Hornet" one. It contains the exact same disks as the individual releases which go for over $20 each. Amazon currently has "Green Hornet, The - 75th Anniversary Original Serials Collector's Set" at $26.98! $9.84 is a great bargain!

There are many things I'd pick up *if* they were included. In spite of that there are several items I'd like to have that *are* included at prices less than amazon, and less than I've seen up to this point. Depending on what amazon does this month I may do a second order. Funny that... before a year or so ago I'd not even bother with waiting to see what amazon might put on sale but go ahead with DD as they'd always be less. Now I'm only ordering items that I've never seen amazon do a price reduction on and waiting on the rest.

The Abbott and Costello Show: Complete Series is 23.86 which is a few dollars less than Amazon. It's not a great deal but not bad either.

Is it just me, or when you go to DVD Planet do 75% of the titles that display a 25% off icon revert to full price anyways when you put them in your cart?

It's not just you. I got an uncharacteristically quick email from customer service this afternoon saying they were aware of the problem and that it would be fixed in a "few hours," but so far nothing's changed for the better.

All right, cool. I don't plan on placing the order for a bit, but it's some peace of mind. It pissed me off because I was sitting there thinking how shoddy it is for me to take the time and go through all their stuff and then pick out what I want for when my order does go down, and then they mess with the prices and ruin the pricing dynamics of the order anyways. But, if all will be well, all will end well.

Re: DD 25% Off Sale 6/2-6/19

FYI, one title I bought that didn't get raised before the sale is VCI's 2011 DVD release of The Prowler (1951).

In fact, I searched a few more VCI titles & it appears that right now most of them are well-priced. Dark Night of the Scarecrow is under $9 as well.

Well, aside from The Prowler, Dark Star, Dark Night of the Scarecrow and Horrors of the Black Museum, anyone recommend other VCI DVDs? (I already have the Bava/giallo DVDs as well).

I think Meet john Doe is a VCI at a good price. They put out a better version of the movie often found on public domain.

For "Horrors of the Black Museum" I'd go with this version. It, too, is VCI and includes "The Headless Ghost" (which is not available separately) for $7.50, less than the $7.86 for "Horrors..." alone. DVD Drive-in reports the transfer for "Horrors..." seems to be the 2003 release with extras from the that release missing. They also report that "Headless...", while in 2.35:1 AR, is not anamorphically enhanced. If you want the extras *and* "Headless" you'll have to get both.

They were supposed to get the issues with the website fixed as it is a pain to navigate that site the way it is, but what else is new with this company.

I fill my shopping cart at DD. Go to check out, shopping cart is empty. Apparently you have to sign in before checking out. There is no way getting around having the contents of your cart cleared when signing in, so I have to start from scratch. Big waste of time.

Their FORGOTTEN NOIR and HAMMER NOIR are some of the best VCI sets out there.

Also have to say that the single movie version of HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM has some fantastic extras on it, plus a insert repro of the original British poster. It's well worth the added expense, especially since HEADLESS is a pretty bad movie.

For the record, while some items have reverted to sale price, 6 titles still haven't, of course said titles the ones actually being decent deals. I know they're on sale because I added them to DD cart. Being in Canada, shipping is cheaper from Planet or I wouldn't care.

Oh, it feels like the old days, reading every one of the hundreds of posts of what others had purchased to get ideas, and ALWAYS finding something I didn't know existed but HAD to have.

Didn't know about the Phantom serial. Must have it.

Thank you!

Both Batman serials are enjoyable too.

Though it will be receiving a Blu-ray release in the fall. I have a few decent VCI discs - The Southerner, Summer Storm, Slightly Scarlet, Silver Lode and Blonde Ice, along with the aforementioned Dark Star and the unfortunately OOP T-Men/Raw Deal 2-fer.

Dammit! I wish they would have released the BD and DVD concurrently. I'd waited so long to see the movie (lived up to it's rep, btw) that I ordered the DVD direct from VCI during their Black Friday sale. I figured a high-def release wasn't in the cards.

Time to unload.

Picked up Caligula because it appears to be OOP?
The Suicide Girls BR was only .50 over my BR threshold but they should look nice on my new tv.

Also I checked and I couldn't find lower prices on the other DVD titles, also they are for the most part odd titles that are rarely clearanced.
