Exactly my thought. You could get a dozen credit cards and get the 60k. (Kevin Smith sure as hell did for Clerks but not for that amount obviously). Get a 50% return is way too good to be true.

You normally don't go to a bank to get a loan to fund a movie. There's no security for the bank to collect if the film is bad and the money can't be repaid. That's why funds come from investors.

I have a feeling that in July, investors will be told something to the effect of:

Dear Investor:

We regret to inform you that because of overwhelming financial obligations we will be unable to pay you the $7500 that we agreed to in January.

However, in order to make good on our agreement, we are hereby awarding you a $7500 credit at our online webstore.

That's right, you can select $7500 in merchandise at fullmoondirect.com and we'll pay for it! (Sale items excluded). Act now as this offer expires in one month!

But it is not an investment it is a loan. It's a promissory note from a company that has been around for 20 years as opposed to a gamble on an individual property. Unless they are just straight up lying but they make enough from catalog titles to stay afloat so I would think it would be relatively safe....

Anyone who thinks it is a good idea or am I alone on that one?

It's a good idea. Do it if you can.

I am going to make 'Gizmo plays with turtles' in 3D. Anyone want to invest?

Ask me when you've been making movies for over 20 years.

My guess is that a year after making your investment you will receive two items in the mail:

1. Notice of a class action lawsuit against Full Moon

2. Notice of Full Moon filing for bankruptcy

I'd say it's a better bet then doing microloans online, or loaning to family/friends but whenever you loan or invest money, it's never a sure thing you'll get your money back.

If you will starve to death if you don't get the money back, don't do it. If you can survive and won't come back complaining about class action lawsuits, go for it.

edit: Seriously, if you give someone a loan, you don't get paid and your next step is a class action lawsuit. You should be sent to the Island of the Stupid.

Why would you do a class action lawsuit and get 1%, pretending you win, compared with suing for the full amount and winning that in a judgement?

Because you're stupid, that's why. Here's your boat ticket. Enjoy the ride.

For the most part, I don't know if most of Full Moons catalog could really be considered 'movies'. They are extreme B movies sold the fans and many (almost all?) have never had real Theatrical releases.

If you guys get your money back + $2,500, well, awesome. But this just sounds very sketchy and coming from Full Moon...well, I would be very weary.

Is there any nudity involved?
