Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Got an e-mail from Redbox yesterday:

Quote:
Redbox is making an announcement about its prices today, and we want to make sure that you hear it from us first.

Starting on Monday, October 31, the daily rental charge for DVDs will change to $1.20 a day. The price change is due to rising operating expenses, including new increases in debit card fees. Daily rental charges for Blu-ray™ Discs and video games won't change. Additional-day charges for DVDs rented before 10/31 won't be affected, either.

In order to make the transition easier, Redbox will discount the first day of all online DVD rentals to $1.00 from 10/31 through 11/30. Additional rental days will be $1.20.

If you have any questions, please visit redbox.com/pricechange. There, we've provided additional information.

This marks our first price change in more than eight years as we work hard to keep prices low for our customers.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Did anyone recieve a code yesterday that didn't work? The one they had texted me for November came up as "already used" when I tried redeeming at the kiosk, but I was able to call them and get a different code that is good for 45 days.

I just wasn't sure if I was the only one.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Blockbuster Express sent a code this morning that is good for $1 off any rental today only. They have gotten more reasonable with new releases being lowered in price from $3 to $2 in the last week or so.

BIGGAME is the code.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Blue is turning red. Not about codes, but Redbox apparently is buying out Blockbuster Express kiosks.

"Dear Valued Customer,

NCR, which operates your Blockbuster Express kiosks, has entered into an agreement to sell its kiosks and other assets to Redbox. Until the transaction is completed (we anticipate in the third quarter of 2012), you will continue to enjoy the convenience, choice, and value you're used to from BLOCKBUSTER Express. Until the sale is completed, we will continue to run the business as we have been, focused on bringing you the latest New Release movies with most titles only $2 for the first night. You'll also notice that we've increased our In-Stock Guarantee value so you will now enjoy a movie night on us with a value of up to $3 if we don't have the New Release movie you want in stock.

As a reminder, we still have 100s of great movies available at $1 and additional nights of all movies are still only $1, all part of preserving an exceptional value for an affordable night of entertainment.

We'll continue to provide you with information on any changes that result from this recent announcement but for now we just wanted to say thanks for being our customer."

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

^ I miss codes like this one that can be used more than once. Of course, you have to use multiple credit/debit cards in order to do so.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Thanks for the code. My public library has a good movie selection, but there are plenty of gaps in its collection. For instance, it doesn't have Drive, so I got it from Redbox last night. It was my first time using it. Pretty convenient.

Totino's pizza is running a promotion now, giving out one free Redbox one day DVD rental code per box. I'm not sure if their pizza rolls also have the codes. I just checked the fine print and it said that the cost of a DVD rental could be applied to a Blu Ray or game, you pay the difference.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

I just got an email with a code telling me my nearest BBExpress Kiosk is going away May 5. I did a search and found they are getting rid of all of the ones in the OKC area. The nearest (and ONLY) one listed is in Edmond, about 25 minutes away. I haven't rented from them in a long time because there are about 8 Redboxes closer to me and I don't like their $3 Hot new release prices, so I'm glad to see them go. I suspect they will be replaced with even more Redbox kiosks. If you are holding on to any codes, you should probably use them up ASAP.

Earlier this year, Coinstar who owns Redbox bought NCR who owns the BBExpress kiosks. All of the BBExpress kiosks will be gone by the end of the year and replaced by Redbox.

That was mentioned earlier in the thread, I just wanted to let people know it's happening now in some places.

Re: Redbox and Blockbuster Express Codes Thread

Redbox emailed me a $.50 off a DVD/Blu Ray/game code that I'm not going to use, so whoever wants it can have it.

TQZQ75X

Good only at kiosks. Expires tomorrow at midnight. Discount good for only the first day if rental is for multiple ones. Kindly post if you use the code.
