You linked to the long out-of-print Criterion DVD. The more recent DVD release and the Blu-ray are from Sony. The BN website also has Do The Right Thing listed, which is a mistake. (For that title, there's an OOP Criterion and a new release on DVD and BD that is from Universal.)
Just wanted to clarify something - neither the Life of Brian nor Do the Right Thing Criterion edition DVDs are OOP. Both are still in print and very much available.

Decisions, decisions. So many titles on my list. I definitely want Solaris though, that I know. Other than that...hmm..maybe some more Dassin titles or Melville titles.

I'd say no, for the simple fact that you haven't watched it yet, and you own it. If you don't have the time or desire to watch the SD to see if it's worth the upgrade, I highly doubt you will watch it when you get the Criterion. You'll just have 2 unwatched dvds sitting on the shelf and less money in your wallet.

How does one get them at the "Members Price" listed on BN.com? Do you need some special membership as opposed to just signing up online?

I hope you get lucky with "Nights Of Cabiria" since it's an OOP selection from Criterion. I was gonna try to order it, but B&N.com said it usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks, so I wasn't sure if it would ever come in or not. From B&N's website, I checked the local store availability of that title on Monday night and there was one copy lingering around in a relatively close location. By Tuesday, though, it was gone.

Both versions, 1-disc & 2-disc, of "The Life Aquatic" are 50% off in-store... at least, in the store that I go to in RI.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

If you get the BN membership (you can cancel within 30 days), have a Discover Card (10% cash back on BN.com purchases), and are smart about how to split up your orders and which coupons you use, the prices are a bit lower than with DD's B1G1 on Criterions last year (i.e., the lowest non-clearance, non-YMMV price I've seen on Criterions).

For example, I got The Delirious Fictions of William Klein for $15.xx shipped, Fassbinder's BRD Trilogy for $30.23 shipped, and Early Bergman for $24.57 shipped, among many others.

I had a $10 gift card, so I picked up The Third Man, out of pocket I spent $10 + tax on it.

i'm having a hard time with b&n/bing. the transaction has not showed up on my bing account yet ,and I am 100% sure I was signed in and linked over to b&n from bing. I'm emailing back & forth with bing now but they will only look at a pdf file of my receipt and I don't have a pdf writer (only reader). They won't accept just a forwarded email. UGH

Me too Joe.

I've had dozens of BN.com orders rebate just fine, through 7/9. But the three orders I've placed since 7/10 haven't shown up yet in the "pending" list.

Is anyone else getting their recent bn.com purchases to credit in bing? If so, did you use coupons? TIA.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

I believe they used the new name (Bing) to bring in some new rules.

Bing states that they will not give you cashback if you buy something with a coupon.

Here's the text from "Terms and Conditions"

17. Bing Cashback
You will not earn cashback savings on purchases where...(h) you use a separate discount or coupon with your order.
I believe they treat the language "separate discount" as synonymous with "sale item." So, the new cashback program is, IMO, a mediocre deal at best: a usually nominal discount off of retail prices. The new rules don't seem very great.

I have actually had cashback that had not matured the full 60 days removed around the time of the transition from live.com to bing, because they were purchases I had made using coupon codes, etc.

I'm not sure if that explains why bn.com orders aren't showing up.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

Thanks for replying cgray.

I've had nothing taken back by bing through July 9, for many many. I've ALWAYS used a coupon, except on those few occasions when I purchased a used item. That doesn't mean you're necessarily wrong of course, just that IME this would be a new post-transition policy for them.

re: (DEAD) 50% of Criterion @ Barnes & Noble - 7/14

I bought a B&N membership online through Bing and did it without a coupon and it is not showing up on my Bing account. It has only been a day, but there is no reason I shouldn't receive the rebate on that.

It can take 2 to 3 days for the rebates to show up in your Bing.com account from B&N.com. I did a couple of last minute orders before the B2G1F sale ended last week and it took 2 days before the purchases showed up in my account. I used coupons on both purchases. However I've had a few slip through without receiving credit, but overall I've gotten most of them.

Anyone know why Seventh Seal in the "50% Off All Blu-Ray Criterion" link on the B&N site, doesn't have the title listed at 50% off?

Because the 50% off only applies to select titles and and Seventh Seal Blu-ray is apparently not one of them. The reason it still shows up in the list though, is because of the dumb way the B&N website organizes titles and provides the listing. A given title has one entry with many versions in their database and since at least one version of the title is Criterion and the DVD version is 50% off, it shows up in the list that uses their dumb search engine. The same dumbness is the reason why Do The Right Thing and Life of Brian show up in the list, even though those aren't Criterion releases on Blu-ray.

I stopped by a B&N yesterday and picked up "The Man Who Fell to Earth" Blu-ray. I only browsed the Blu section, but there couldn't have been more than 5 copies of just as many titles.
