Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

After searching around St Louis for 2 days, I had to go to House Springs for work today. They have a small walmart there and I checked it out and found Ringu, Reds, and Sunset Blvd ($4).

But back on topic - I'm glad some of you guys are finding what you wanted. It seems my local Wal-Mart is the last to get any of the good titles, if they even get them at all.

Checked one last time at all the walmarts here and couldn't find what I wanted. I'm disappointed. Oh well, glad most were able to find what they wanted.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Found a copy of the 2 disk "Roman Holiday" at one of the stores for $4. Not bad... I would have picked up a copy of "Beowulf" for that price had I seen one and possibly "Sunset Blvd." as an upgrade to my single disk version, but no luck.

There were LOTS of copies of "Sky Captain...", "JackAss", "Norbit", "Blades of Glory", and the MI titles with a few of "Alfie", and "Reds". I would have thought they would be giving away copies of most of the titles in the rack by now... especially "Blades of Glory". Heck, that one didn't even sell last Christmas at ~$2. Why do they think people will pick it up for twice that?

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I think the store I went to just put out their display this morning because it was full and very organized. It had 4 copies of Ringu Anthology and plenty of the rest of the titles. The display did have a $4 sign on it but the Ringu Anthology and Barnyard with ty Beanie Babie rang up at $3 each. I also got Rugrats double feature movies, Disturbia, Dreamgirls 2-disc for $4 each. Not sure if any of the other movies will ring up for $3. Might be YMMV.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Heading out a little later today to pick up a few things at the grocery part. Hopefully they'll finally have this thing out, because I'd really like to have a copy of the Ringu set to enjoy with friends over Halloween -- as well as the Centennial Collection sets I haven't snatched up yet (Roman Holiday, Odd Couple).

I went to a Pasadena Wal-Mart (Farimmont) yesterday and saw a new display (back in the DVDs -- the one upfront was still there and picked over), but NOTHING good except In the Wild 2D -- no Centennial or Ringu sets. THe new display looked like it had just been set up too.

The Pasadena Wal-mart on Southmore had NADA and everything was now $4.

I think from past posts you are in Houston, what Wal-Mart did you go to?

610 and South Post Oak. They had an endcap and across from it, they had a cardoard display right by the register in the electronics department. The cardboard display had the Ringu anthology.

I first went to the Pearland Wal-Mart near 288. They also had some on an endcap and the rest they threw in a bin similar to the $5 bin. It was hard to dig through the bin as it was very deep. Could not see any Ringu sets there but they could be hidden deep in the bottom.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

I went to WM last night. The $5 display was so-so, but did have a couple of DVDs I bought. One is Arthur Penn's classic BONNIE AND CLYDE (widescreen & standard on same disc) from WHV. The other is COWBOY LEGENDS COLLECTOR'S SET, from Echo Bridge. There are 9 oaters on this, including a pair of early 1940's HOPALONG CASSIDY features in their restored versions (previously released by Platinum, now Echo Bridge). It was worth the money for those alone....the other 7 movies were typical PD titles in average looking transfers.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

$4 here (Nicholasville Rd. Lexington, KY).

They had 6 copies of Ringu Anthology at 2:00 this afternoon. I grabbed two of them. The display was full and had most of the titles posted in this thread.

Anyhoo... PM me if you want my extra. Not sure if it's worth it to ya (since I would pretty much have to double the cost with shipping, packaging, paypal fees, etc) but I have one for a DVDTalker if you're interested. GONE

Congrats! That's one of the stores I was at yesterday afternoon - the display looked fully stocked then and they didn't have jack.

Not really worth my time going back... oh, well.
