It's for the dub, usually on as Essential release they reduce overlays and other naughty bits they had on the original release and add a dub commentary track and a 5.1 dub track.

The other big difference is price. Online, you should be able to pick up the whole series on the Essential releases for under $30, a huge savings over the Perfect Collection, which is a "brick" case release.
