I preordered MoKF 2 DM variant from DCBS in an order with Doctor Strange DM and ASM 2 reprint. The status of the later two has changed to "Filled" but MoKF 2 is still "Processing." I sure hope DCBS gets their DM books from Diamond. I am a bit nervous that I might be screwed, though.

Imprint, I am inclined to believe that the delay really is due to a printing error and not because Diamond has to allocate orders due to the demand for this omnibus (that being said, I suspect the DM variant will sell out in less than 24 hours once it is readily available on instocktrades, and other sites).

I remain optimistic that no later than next Tuesday afternoon that I will be able to grab this through ist just like I did volume 1 (because I ordered volume 1 I received an email about the printing error).

If there was a printing error, then why did CGN have it in stock on Monday?

Slop, it noted that a number of copies that were saleable went out to stores and on-line sites in limited quantities, which explains why some folks were able to grab a copy. It also sounds like only some pre-orders were filled (it was noted that ist's sister site tales of wonder was able to fill a percentage of pre-orders). You noted that CGN's price was close to retail for the book, maybe it would have been priced lower if they had received their full allotment of copies.

I really feel that everyone who is hearing hooves should be thinking horses not zebras and folks like Rich at Bleeding Cool would be quick to note the DM Variant sell-out if the printing snafu was a bogus story. I continue to believe that I will need to be quick to pounce on it, but that I will have no issue grabbing it from ist.

I thought I didn't get the IST mail even though I bought vol. 1, but I did find it.

I guess at this point I'll wait for the variant. Worst possible outcome is that I have to get the standard edition for less than the current 50% discount, but they have the first volume in stock at their all-Marvel discount of 45% off so it won't be more than a few bucks.

I ordered the Cassaday cover rather than the variant. For me, the value of the book is on the inside. I'd take either cover if it came down to it. As is, I'll take a new piece of art for the cover knowing that the cover from the variant edition will be inside the volume with the issue it came from.

Davidh777, unlike in the Twilight Time thread where I jumped the gun on panicking about my delayed order being filled 100%, I am trying to stay calm and carry on. I do genuinely hope it was a printer snafu and a large quantity will indeed be hitting the market next week.

I'm conflicted. Never read the series, but rave reviews for decades now convinced me and ordered the first omnibus. Now I can't find it to read it and see how much I like it.

Today is the deadline to lock-in a $62.50 price on the third omnibus at DCBS, and the second is $62.50 at IST. If I buy these two today, I'm obviously locked in to buying the fourth. So I'm about to spend $250 on a blind buy.

Or do I just turn off the browser and stop at the first?

You can take comfort that you'd probably be able to resell them later. Not that you ever would, of course.

My main concern was that they'd just throw it up on their site randomly when they got stock in, but I agree it'd make much more sense to roll it out with that week's releases. I hope that's this week.

Midtown Comics on-line store shows the Shang Chi Omnibus Volume 2 DM Variant as coming soon with a 11/2 release date. I am actually okay with this if it means that the DM Variant has been offically delayed until Nov. 02. It would mean I do not have to wonder if the variant cover went up on ist at some random time in the hopes of grabbing a copy.

If some copies go up on ist today, great, if not it does look a large quantity will be hitting stores on Nov. 02.

IST's new releases are up, with no Shang Chi.

They do have the Ditko variant of the Doctor Strange Omnibus back in stock, though.

Davidh777, the non-appearance of the Shang Chi Variant today does lead me to believe that Diamond basically pushed back the release to 11/02. I just wish that this was announced by Diamond via a short press release type announcement, but I have more faith than before that I will be able to get a copy.

Edited to add: A member on the tales of wonder Marvel Masterworks message board says they received a notice from their local comic shop that the DM cover has indeed been pushed out to 11/02...still need to pay attention when ist adds it to their new release list so I do not miss it, but I am officially no longer stressed about getting a copy. I did notice that cheap graphic novels has the DM cover still available, but as noted earlier in the thread it is $125 with no apparent takers (it will be much cheaper to grab soon enough), and a poster also noted they were able to grap a copy as a few made their way to Australia.

Yup, at long last our long national nightmare will be over and we will be able to order the omnibus next Tuesday.

I was nervous when I checked the Previews New Release link on Sunday and the Shang Chi book did not pop up as being available this Wednesday, so hopefully if the ist email I also received is accurate it will officially show up on next weeks new release list. It is not on the 11/9/2016 list just yet...fingers crossed.

One more day to go! I am less nervous about the results of the election than I am in pouncing on the listing the second it goes up (hopefully a ton people are busy voting and do not immediately notice when the listing goes up).

Davidh777...I got the voting headache out of the way 2 weeks back as a permanent absentee voter. I noticed IST is not limiting orders to 1 per person...watch all this drama to get the book and it becomes super easy to buy everywhere for months on end. Oh well, I have the now expensive DM variant of volume 1 so I wanted to stick with the DM variants of the remaining volumes.

Yeah, orders weren't limited, and it was 50% off like a normal new release. But if it makes you feel any better, they seem to have killed it already.

I wonder how much of the volume went to speculators.

Wow...that went faster than expected, I just went with 1 copy, and like volume 1 it will remain sealed as I think it will be a valuable set for me if I am patient and wait for volumes 3 and 4 before I consider selling. I am curious what my fellow talkers have to say about the Deadly Hands Of Kung Fu omnibus, should I pick it up next week (the DM variant was delayed at least another week according to the DCBS email I received)? I am not even trying to hide the fact that I ask because I wonder if it will have a good resale value down the road, especially if I offer it up as a set with the Shang Chi Master Of Kung Fu ombibus books.
