Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Some heads up on some Thanksgiving/Black Friday deals.
Things From Another World is having their annual black friday sale:
Dark Knights of November
The items are discounted now, but will go up another 10% on Black Friday with select Nick and Dent GNs at 80% off and some "door buster" items added both on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I can't remember when the changeover happens. I think it is 12:01AM PST. The last two years, their servers have pooped themselves during the sale, so be prepared for long delays on getting your order in and things disappearing from your cart, but the 80% Nick & Dents are great deals. Alternatively, just start trying at a more reasonable hour...
Cheap Graphic Novels is having their Black Friday Sale which runs THURSDAY(live!) through Monday:
Select items in the following categories:
Marvel Omnibus and Masterworks at 70% off
Marvel Season One's 60% off
DC Absolute and Omnibuses at 50% off
DC Archives at 70% off
Have fun deal shopping(and paying off the bills 0.0)

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Just wanted to let you know that you can combine the 30% coupon at Barnes & Noble with the B2G1F deal for all Marvel/DC graphic novels to get some decent deals on omnibuses. Just got both Absolute Sandman volumes with a New X-men Omnibus for ~$50/each. About half off.

InStockTrades.Com is having 46% off Marvel/DC/Image/Dark Horse books and 36% off IDW, Fantagraphics, Valiant and Boom books for Black Friday. Free shipping over $50 and no tax unless you're in Indiana I believe. I highly recommend checking them out before you buy elsewhere - their regular prices beat other places discounts even after coupons and sales.

If you are going to buy $100+ and can split it into $50+ orders, put in one $50 order first. Then buy the rest of the stuff and you should have an additional 2% discount for that second order.

Edit: and here's why, according to the terms: "The maximum benefit you may receive from this offer is $10".

That little limitation caught me unaware. It means you stop getting any further discount on any item over $33.33. The coupon is still good for the smaller hardcovers but doesn't work out as well on the more expensive items.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Barnes & Noble (website) has a buy 2 get 1 on any Marvel or DC graphic novel/TPB through the first of the year. Their prices aren't great, but if you utilize the various coupons floating around (like the 30% MasterCard promotion or the 40% one which will go live soon), there are some deals to be had.
I ended up getting the DC One Million Omnibus for something like $41 with tax. This deal is good for non-members.

If you really want to go crazy this weekend, combine the current 40% off online coupon with the Buy 2 Get 1 Free on any Marvel/DC trade/hardcover/omnibus. The code is good once per account and only seems to work if you go through the mobile site. Details are in the huge Barnes & Noble Coupon threads.

I did go crazy on the combination, though it was seriously disappointing to me that the coupon did not apply to pre-orders. B&N would have likely received $300 in pre-orders from me if the code had worked on them. They also seem to have spotty stock of surprisingly recent trades and larger hardcovers.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I just posted in the main book forum about a new site ClubHoopla.com.
I purchased a few books for under $5 shipped that may be of interest for those who love comics:
Spider-man Chronicle
DC Comics Year by Year
Both of these sell for over $30 on Amazon. There may be other deals there if you'll take a look.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Not really a deal, but the online shop I've been using forever, mailordercomics.com, seems like it's finally shutting down. The guys at DCBS are porting over orders, and the circumstances of the closure still aren't clear, but I'll finally be moving over to DCBS (heard nothing but good things about them, just figured I'd be "loyal," but them stepping in guarantees I'll stick with them).

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
I've been buying from DCBS since 2006 and I've rarely had any problems with them. I've gotten one incorrect item(Infinity Inc trade instead of Infinity War trade). I've also made several orders with IST(their sister site) and have had only one item between the two sites show up damaged. They didn't have any more of that item and it wasn't orderable through the publisher anymore, so they gave me something like a 15-20% refund on that item.
I don't know how much you order, but you might want to try out ordering through the excel order upload. I think I just used the website functionality to order until about 2010. Now I much prefer the excel functionality.
I hope your experience is as good as mine.

Re: Comic Book Bargains & Hot Deals
Use Mail Order Comics in 2009, they were ok but DCBS is the best!!!
I do not get bags/boards and nothing has ever been messed up and the prices cannot be beat!!
My pull list is $50 a month and it is like Christmas every time I see that box of priority books out on my mailbox.

Where is the cheapest place to buy bags? I'm just looking for 100 regular comic bags and 100 large magazine bags.
I'd appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.
