Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order
Return period is 14 days after delivery (possibly 30 days for members though I've never tried)
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept
The long standing Free 60 day Trial Offer was discontinued in late May 2016

I was facing that same dilemma too. I own all the movies including the extended editions on DVD. From what I saw the only benefit to the new set is upgraded picture and audio. The extras are all the same and on DVD too.

I love the movies, especially the extended edition. The content is the same (from what I remember of ALL the extras) but besides the fact the picture is noticeably better there is the added bonus of taking up much less shelf space

Word coming out of Comic Con is that the first 3 maybe extended even more and all 6 "super" extended films released together once the last Hobbit film comes out. Maybe worth waiting.

I just looked into it, and actually what he said was there's more footage in the vaults, and if there's enough interest, it could see the light of day.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

I decided to bite on it. I grabbed the theatrical versions in a cheap 3-Pack after Black Friday, so this will be a nice addition to have, even though all the extra discs are DVDs.

Also snagged The Legend Of Billie Jean, didn't even know it was available outside of Warner's DVD-R service.

Jeez, how much more footage could there be? Frodo in a hobbit outhouse?

More singing and more coked up effects!

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Wouldn't surprise me if Jackson added footage that is actually from the Hobbit shoots to the LOTR movies in order to tie them together. Not opposed to this, but it does make me groan because I know I will want the full 6 movie saga if done well.

I ended up biting... used some points to pay for part of it, so $20 out of "pocket" for a ~$120/set was too good to pass on. I definitely learned my lesson though and I'm waiting until all 3 of The Hobbit movies are out and the inevitable box set before buying any of those. WRT extended footage, or somehow tying the two of them more together... I guess I'll wait to see if it happens and how it looks.

As much as I love the LOTR trilogy, I have zero desire to see any additional footage, or frankly, any extra features that don't already exist. I've reached the saturation point.

Well fine, but there is a rumored sex scene with Gollum and a Cave Troll.

Re: Amazon discounts and deals on Blu-ray

Hmm, that's tempting but still a little high for me. Hard to justify too many Blu-ray purchases these days, particularly over $10, no matter how good the movie is. I'll have to set up a CCC pricewatch. Anybody else wish the CCC pop-up also automatically told you the average price over the last year or so?

It's the cheapest it has ever hit and it's a limited edition set with a thick booklet. Universal will keep the price on it relatively high and eventually reissue it in a cheaper edition without the added stuff.

The MOC is about the same price including shipping at Amazon UK & is likely better quality. Don't know if it's region locked.

$151.99 at WBShop last week with a coupon, don't know if it's active or not, but just because WBSHOP got hacked once people don't want to shop there anymore.

I wonder how low this can be expected to go by the end of the year...what would be a realistic "pull the trigger" number.

I think that $150 figure is it for the next eighteen months.

The Batman series isn't going to get any cheaper than the $150-ish range for the foreseeable future.

The Herzog Blu-ray collection is down to 129.03. That's a pretty massive discount not even a week after being released.
