I am considering the possiblity of spluging a little when I get my tax refund this year.
Well, that is if I get close to what I expect.

Anyways,

I am thinking it would be nice to have a portable DVD unit for trips, plane trips, etc.
Ideally I would love one that I can play DVDs from any region on with no problems.
Barring that, my only other criteria are:

Good quality picture and sound.
Good features in the unit.
trouble free, ie it isn't a nightmare and has all kinds of problems
and most important, I would like to not spend an arm and a leg.
And another feature,
good battery life. I don't want to have to put in fresh batteries every couple of hours. A rechargeable battery pack, ala camcorders, would be best. That way I could buy 1 or 2 extra and have them charged and ready for longer trips.

I have no manufacturer prefrence as I am not sure who all makes these units.

Thanks in advance.

**Edited to add in battery requiement**

I just got the pioneer l10 for Xmas and it is Shhhwwweeet. Battery is better than I thought it would be but I did invest in a car adaptor. I got the car adaptor because teh unit can be used without the battery pack, in this use the L10 is about the size of a DVD case. I trusted my "steroe advisor" in choosing this over the panasonic or Sony, HE said 'It was a better made unit", I said "OK". The new L20 will be hitting soon, battery is a little smaller and has 2 headphone jacks (I am using a Y splitter). Street prce is about $1,000 now.
