Bill Murray to Play Baloo in Disney's 'The Jungle Book'
The actor joins a voicecast that includes Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong’o and Idris Elba.
Bill Murray is headed to Disney's The Jungle Book, where he will voice the bear Baloo.
The film recently cast Christopher Walken as King Louie and Breaking Bad alum Giancarlo Esposito as Akela, the leader of a wolf pack. Other castmembers include Ben Kingsley (the black panther Bagheera), Lupita Nyong’o (the mother wolf Raksha), Idris Elba (the villainous tiger Shere Khan) and Scarlett Johansson (the python Kaa).
Neel Sethi, a 10-year-old newcomer, will star as Mowgli, the boy on whom the story centers.
Jon Favreau is directing the live-action/animation combination from a script by Justin Marks. The film hits theaters Oct. 9, 2015.

Re: Disney's The Jungle Book (2016 D: Favreau) S: Murray, Walken, Kingsley, Nyong'o,
I thought there was another thread where I posted these but I can not find them in the search. Same with the Serkis Origins film.
These pics are old, but seeing Cinderella this weekend made me think about this and the next live action adaptations.
Sneak peek: Director Jon Favreau shared a snap from the set of remake The Jungle Book on Wednesday. The foggy scene with Mowgli was posted to Favreau's Instagram with the caption, 'Behind the scenes #junglebook'
Returning to the big screen: In recently released concept art Mowgli is seen walking along rocks at the bottom of a monstrous waterfall, followed by black panther Bagheera, voiced by Sir Ben Kingsley
Star of the show: Hollywood rookie Neel Sethi, 10, was chosen out of thousands to play the lead role of Mowgli
'Ssscarlet'! On November 10 Favreau shared a picture of actress Scarlett Johansson in the studio, recording her role as python Kaa
Hard at work: Favreau (second from left) posed with Bill Murray, set to play Mowgli's friend and mentor Baloo, Christopher Walken who will be orangutan King Louie and blues singer-songwriter Dr. John in a New Orleans studio earlier this week

I'm hoping this is better than the 1994 version, though I didn't think it was that bad. I wonder why they made Kaa a woman? Elba will be great as Shere Khan.

Re: Disney's The Jungle Book (2016 D: Favreau) S: Murray, Walken, Kingsley, Nyong'o,
I hated the Disney cartoon as kid and still haven't seen it as an adult. I also haven't read the book. THIS though gets my interest cuz Favreau is an interesting director. Looks like he's really flexing his visuals on this one.

Thanks. I'm at work so I had to keep the volume down, so I couldn't hear it. Still, that doesn't give me much hope that the music will be in the movie.

What's more disconcerting : A giant boa constrictor who sounds like Winnie The Pooh or one that sounds like the OS in Her?

Re: Disney's The Jungle Book (2016 D: Favreau) S: Murray, Walken, Kingsley, Nyong'o,
This movie seems like it covers the same story arc as the animated movie. I wonder if this is successful if Disney might make a sequel that explores some of the adventures of Mowgli in his adult years? The Kipling books (and it was called "The Jungle Books" originally, including the story of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi) seldom get much adaptation beyond the "Mowgli's Brothers" chapter.
